The body of a servant was a strange thing. Robert was used to a pseudo-corporeal form, since his role as a counter-guardian led to a very similar position to this constantly, but he could understand how other people would find it weird. You never really got tired, only physically exhausted, and you had so much power within you that you felt like a demigod from the legends of old. Yet, even still, something about it was almost tragic - It was a simulacra of a human body, but it was so distant from the lives they had once led. As such, it wasn't surprising that people would want to have somewhere to pretend, just for a little bit, that they were a human once more. Somewhere where they could drop their armor, put down their weapons, and just pick up the old lives they had once had. Of course, comparing this to a real human life was like comparing a child playing house to a real marriage. It was similar, but it would never truly come close. Everyone within this building had either already died, or they had never been alive in the first place. Still, these rooms presented a way for someone to easily track down some of their cohorts should they so desire. The room-numbers, their location and their inhabitant was all documented inside the files of the big computer, privy only to those with sufficient access. Servants, for all the respect and trust that was put inside them, weren't privy to that information. They were, after all, weapons first and people second. Only sufficiently high-ranking individuals would be given access to that information, to ensure that nobody attempted to deal with a grudge they'd had whilst they were alive - an entire class of servant was dedicated to cold-blooded killers, after all, and they had to be handled with care. The weakest link in this chain of secrecy, however, was that the people who had access to those files were just that - people; people with thoughts, and feelings, and easily manipulable emotions. Should someone sufficiently charming ask them for help finding someone, then how could they really resist? Especially when the person asking could honey his words and promise them the heaven and the earth in a way that made them want to believe them. It just so happened that Robert was one of those interested parties, and he just so happened to have a way with the ladies... and the men... and, to be honest, everything in between. -----
For what had to be the third or fourth time since he'd gotten the information, Robert looked at the scribble to make sure that he wasn't going to the wrong place. Yes, it was definitely THAT room. His eyes shot from the piece of paper to the room before him, wondering about whether he should actually do this. He wasn't some little girl talking to her crush, but this guy... his heart beat slightly faster than he might like to admit - this guy was something else. Robert's life had long since become confusing - since he had accepted the role of ROBIN, he had gone forwards and backwards in time time and again, to the point where he would no longer be able to keep it straight in his head if he hadn't kept a diary (a millennia diary, as he liked to call it). Many figures had featured in it - Nero, Atlas, Attila, to name just a few - but only a couple cropped up more than once. Generally because it was his job to ensure that they didn't crop up more than once. This man was one of the few. The other figures that he walked through history with were usually great names with legendary tales - Jeanne D'arc, the legendary heroine of France who had led her people to victory against his homeland before getting betrayed by those she loved; Shiro Amakusa; his brother in arms from another time period, a man who also led a peasants revolution and strove to protect the innocents of his nation from abuse; That failed king from all those years ago, who he refused to even speak the name of. The only exception to that role was the man sitting inside this room.... According to the diary, the last time he had seen him was the Atlantis incident. Considering that, would he even want to see him? He had seemed thankful when he helped him with Atlas the other day, but he HAD just saved his life. What about outside of that? Was he a friend to the man, a fellow knight, or an unpleasant reminder of a job that he had never stopped complaining about? For some reason, not knowing if he would be welcomed made his heart hurt... was he really that desperate for affirmation from those he considered his equals? Christ almighty... Summoning up his courage, he took a deep breath... and slammed his foot into the door, kicking it across the room and sending it flying into the wall and crushing anything caught in its path. "EMIYA, YOU BASTARD! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO COME SEE ME NEXT TIME WE SHARED AN ASSIGNMENT TOGETHER, YOU MISERABLE ASS. FIRST JEANNE KEEPING TO HERSELF AND NOW YOU, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING OF?!"

Things had been...interesting, lately.
The altercation he had with the King of Atlantis, though not life threatening, had not been something I would ever want to repeat. In establishing that fact, several unpleasant tasks had to be accomplished. I had to break the hearts and dampen the spirits of the cooking staff, and inform them that as a result of the circumstances, I could not continue to help with food service. Eventually they talked me down to merely working in the kitchens and occasionally at the register...persistent old bats...but I wouldn't be pushing food carts again anytime soon.
With no other obligations to the outside world aside from checking for a new mission every now and again, I began to live in something resembling solitude. While I had received assistance and avoided a rather painful end, I couldn't count on such assistance occurring again. And because of my long service to the Counter-Force, it was far more likely that I would run afoul of more people I killed than encountered more friendly Guardians. If Nero were to show up, for example, I doubt I'd be able to escape even if that man happened to be present.
Just then, my door exploded.
Kanshou and Bakuya were in my hands immediately, when my eyes widen slightly at the sight of the intruder. I break out into a laugh. "You always were hasty and prone to stupid decisions. Think about things for a second before you destroy property, won't you? Interfering with the one-sided beatdown Atlas was providing was one of those stupid decisions...though for some reason I can't hold it against you." By the end I have a smile on my face.
As a Counter Guardian, I was unable to take actions against the commands of the world...and those commands could get extraordinarily specific. However, they did allow for a certain degree of autonomy, and in the case of truly great threats, multiple could be summoned. That apparently had been enough of a bond to have this foolish Archer help me when no one else would.
"I had no way of knowing where you were. I'm not so attached to my Counter-Guardian days to go riffling through security-locked files...or, if it's you, seduce them out of someone. I was content to wait until we met up by chance, as such things often happen." My words were slightly cutting, but there was no malice in them. Just simple truths...which may or may not hurt worse depending on the situation. "Besides, you should know the value of laying low, shouldn't you? When we could have an angry King of Atlantis on our heels? Of course, that's out of the window, half the compound might come investigate someone's door being blown off it's hinges, won't they?"
Turning around and sitting down on the couch, one of the default and few pieces of furniture in the room, I finally acknowledge him with a simple word. "Well, it's not like I can shut the door on you, so you might as well come in."

Being summoned by a secret organization and given instructions such as participating in missions that involved time traveling to preserve the order in the world... Just in what kind of "trouble" had she found herself in now? Well, it's not like it mattered much now. The memories of her so distant past seemed so close to her, just as if she had awaken from a bad dream and everything else was a lie. Well, this was not case. She was indeed alive and she could once again revive the feeling of having a physical corpse to use at will and at the will of others. She also had no forgotten the code that she forever lived for "To live only to serve and to accomplish whatever task is given, No-Matter-What." If only Takeda could see her once again, she was sure he would be more than proud of her.
The days passed and as usual Chiyome preferred to stay in her room be it meditating or practicing her skills to not fall out of shape, this was her usual routine as she felt no real obligation to accept missions given by the organization unless her name was called. Today seemed to be no different from any other day, Chiyome had already finished cleaning her room and she was about to start meditating when a harsh sound from next door stopped her.
"..."
Just what in the world would anyone do to make such a sound? Maybe a fight? But who would be dumb enough to fight inside Chaldea? In any case, if this meant to be an enemy attack she was in the obligation to stop it at all cost.
"Meditating can wait..." She then took a deep breath and started to talk in an almost inaudible tone, for some described as a chant but for her, just a reminder of her priorities prior any battle "To eliminate all of my leader's enemies..." Her hand softly placed on the hilt of her short Katana, also her Noble Phantasm "To not underestimate our targets and to use all means to defeat them..." Her eyes closed and an aura of calm and serenity could be felt by anyone just close enough around her "With all my will, I'll protect Chaldea today!"
Of course, for any novice charging in was like a suicide mission... Unless you were brave enough to jump in against the unknown. First things first, to determine where the crashing sound came from, secondly, to find the best way to approach the place and to analyze the situation and finally, proceeding to eliminate the enemy. The only problem here was that the hostile sound came from the apartment next to hers... Another servant was living there and from what she could remember, one of the Archer class and a weird one if not all Archers were weird for her already. The few chances she got to see him it never crossed her mind that he would be involved in any sort of problem... or that he would be the first target for an enemy attack at all. He was another servant after all and he wouldn't be defeated easily so what was left to do was to approach and confirm the situation.
"Uh..." Well, first "problem" encountered... The apartment she was living in had no windows and the only exit was the front door. That alone was one problem and any smart enemy could be waiting for her outside to kill her with a single attack. "I guess it can't be helped... and it's not like It's gonna be the first time I fight in disadvantage, let's do this" Her body switched to an offensive position, one where she could easily grab her Katana and pull it off for a quick counter attack. Her movements were soft and quick, not even a second of half-way opening the door and she was already outside. The combination of her Clan techniques plus her class skills favored her a lot when it came to making quick moves. Surprisingly for her, there was nothing nor no one outside. Her guard was still up while she stood quietly examining her surroundings. Everything was calm except for the big hole in her neighbor's door... or what was supposed to be there.
"..."
There was also no sign of violence other than somebody clearly kicking that door open, still, she had to be sure there was no possible threat for the organization. She moved quickly and silently to her neighbor's entrance, a quick glance inside without being detected and there he was... His neighbor sitting on his couch and the figure of someone she never met before. Chiyome held onto her NP while stealthily moving inside the house, trying to make eye contact with the owner as if she was looking for confirmation that she could take him down. Her body still in the offensive, clearly giving her neighbor the impression that she was ready attack. Whatever his response would be, she was ready.

Oh great, a lecture from the king of awful decisions himself as if he knew better - EMIYA began to go off about how Robert was never the type to think things through. Oh, was that the case? Well, the fact that he had led an entire army on his own seemed to suggest that he knew what he was doing a little better than mister "hero of justice" over here. Nonetheless, for some reason Robert couldn't help but smile at the reaction that he was getting.
"Should you, of all people, really be the one to give a lecture about not destroying Chaldea's property? After that little display the other day? I still don't think I heard a thank you for that, by the way. To be entirely honest, if you did have a problem with it I'd have probably left you to get killed by that lunatic." Robert said, almost nonchalantly.
It wasn't true, of course, he wasn't the kind of person who could let an innocent person get killed without at least trying to step in, but it was better to say this than admit just how foolish he truly was. Besides, the pair of them had long since lost any right to call themselves innocent, especially where Atlas was concerned.
By all rights, perhaps Robert should have let Atlas get his revenge against EMIYA - They had killed him once, even when he hadn't really done anything against them personally, so was it not natural that he would want to have at least some small form of payback for his pains? But it just wasn't in his nature to sit back and allow things to happen just because of fairness. Misery shouldn't beget greater misery, no matter the circumstances.
"You make it sound like your counter-guardian days are over, Mister. Sorry to tell you, but the moment that Chaldea no longer has need of us we're going back to the front lines. I hope you didn't forget that when you were having fun with your Atlantasean friend." The pair of them, as far as Robert knew, would be together until the end of time - cleaning up humanity's messes until, hopefully, they one day learned not to make messes anymore. Teaching humanity to stop screwing the world up was a Sisyphean task, though, so it was unlikely. The only way he could imagine either of them getting out of it is if one of them got summoned as a servant in a grail war and managed to win it this time.
Though even that wouldn't help - He wasn't sure if EMIYA was aware of this, but had he come a step closer to winning the fifth holy grail war then one of the other counter-guardians would have been summoned to take him down and ensure a more harmless winner won the grail. After all, when it came down to it, Alaya didn't allow anything that would threaten the continued existence of humanity, and losing one of her most promising agents was definitely a threat to humanity. She simply wouldn't have let it happen, even were the grail not corrupted.
The hairs on the back of Robert's neck stood up on end, as if a cold wind had just run through the area. He wasn't sure what it was, it certainly wasn't actual wind considering they were in a bunker, yet it was definitely something. Or... or maybe it was just his imagination. Subtly moving his head, he checked the area around him to see if there was anything there. But, to the best of his knowledge, nothing was. That was weird... Maybe it was an assassin? No. If he jumped at every shadow thinking it could be an assassin then he'd be no use to anyone. It was just a bad feeling.
---
Walking into the room, Robert plonked his ass down on the sofa and lay back against it, reclining ever so slightly. For a trained soldier, for a man who should probably consider himself on duty right now, he was being awfully easy-going about the whole thing. There was no hint of hostility in his body language, though there might be a bit of presumption there. Was he a little too chummy with someone who he'd only spent time with on assignments? Possibly.
"Trust me - The amount of mess and fuss that people have been making recently, I doubt anyone's going to come examine a door being knocked off its hinges. It's not like a pair of idiots ripping apart an entire floor in an all-out brawl. Besides, we servants are predisposed to make a mess, I thought you of all people would know that by now, Godaime-senpai~" The last word was spoken in a deliberately grating, effeminate, cutesy tone. He was teasing his 'friend'... and considering the word in question, it was clear to see what with.
Godaime - the fifth in EMIYA's native tongue. The fifth holy grail war. Unlike Robert who had never been called, for few Asians knew of his legend, EMIYA had fought in the holy grail war that they were having to deal with right now, and as far as Robert cared, it was partially his fault that they were having to deal with it at all. Whilst Robert had grown used to cleaning up people's messes, being friends with the person who had caused the mess however... it infuriated him.

Ahhh, this. Oh, how I absolutely missed this. It was almost enough to make me miss being on my own, killing and killing and killing in the name of humanity's preservation. But it was difficult not to admire Robert's spirit about things. "I don't see how you can blame any of that 'display' on me. I was just helping out in the cooking shop, when he saw my face and went ballistic." That thought makes me heave a sigh. "I could have sworn I killed him without letting him lay an eye on me. I guess this is how I pay for my sloppiness."
I had a very different view on Counter Guardianship than my colleague. Despite that, I was under absolutely no illusions about what that curse meant for me. "I'm fully aware that whenever Chaldeas goals and the Counter-Forces no longer coincide, I will likely not be able to remain here. That doesn't change the fact that it's a welcome reprieve...and one I'm in no mood to shorten by taking illegal actions."
His chat with Robert continued easily. "Again, that was entirely Atlas' doing. The fact I had to avoid the door couldn't possibly be blamed on me. Or should I have just taken it on my thick head?" Still, the barb, as asinine as it was, was noticable. "If you're talking about the Fuyuki Incident, I have no idea what could have caused that. The Fifth War I remember being summoned to resolved peacefully, and time continued past that point. If I had to speculate about what caused the Fuyuki Disaster, someone interfered in the war, causing the Grail to pour it's mud without end. Even that doesn't fully explain it, but it's as far as I can..."
Just then, I open my eyes, and look past Robert to see another Heroic Spirit, brandishing a katana and looking into his eyes. While I had the intense feeling to shout and alert my colleague to the presence, she seemed to be waiting on my command? It was peculiar. I shake my head slightly, leaning my head towards the door, trying to tell her that she should leave. If she were trying to help me, she should have come during the time Atlas chased me, and not allowed this annoying person to re-enter my life. "Er, where were we? I apologize."

Was she wrong after all? Chiyome didn't have enough time... No, she simply decided not to give herself enough time to analyze the situation. Archer had given her an usual sign of retreat and it seemed like the situation was under control, her eyes met again with the stranger as he moved towards the couch while casually making a statement as if everything was alright. Everything was just... too good to be true. Chiyome closed her eyes, her focus was now at max. She relaxed her muscles while preparing for an attack, after deep breath and before clearing her mind from all thoughts she gave the situation a last analysis.
"With Archer's sign alone I wouldn't have doubt his safety at all... but... That other person... Why would he say such words so casually if he was under no danger? It just doesn't make sense..." Her set of abilities makes her approach invisible plus not showing any emotions on her face it makes the efficacy of her skills almost over the top. Why would he say such words then? Was she spotted? "If I was spotted... The moment I lower my guard and turn around to leave I'm dead..." She then released the air slowly and silently, erasing every thought with it "So Archer was just trying to take him on alone... I get it... But you won't fight alone".
Chiyome opened her eyes, they now have lost their color and her mindset changed to that of a true assassin. She drew her short Katana out, her Noble Phantasm as she was not taking any risks now. Her attack pattern now unknown in the eyes of Archer and the stranger, her ninja mastery plus her agility and personality making her movements undetectable. The only skills she'd require for a quick approach this time were Intonjutsu and Shukuchijutsu, a combination of these 2 to silently approach the stranger in the couch, reducing the gap between them just enough for a quick strike. Although her Noble Phantasm in her right hand, she would merely be using it as a regular weapon for a single blow that would not kill him, but leave him wounded enough to stop him from moving.
With her skill set together now, she vanished from Archer's eyes, her target now locked in her eyes as she was ready to attack. Unless he was fast enough to match her speed, parry her attack, dodge it or Archer stopping her quickly enough somehow (Maybe by shouting). There was little chance for the stranger to get away from this one.

He still wasn't happy. Nope, still not happy. Sure, there was that command. But there were ways to circumvent it. The biggest issue being that the Counter Guardian had escape any form of punishment. But he had ways of tracking the man down, and sure enough, it wasn't long before someone had given him the room number he was looking for. He tracked it down, continually checking the slip of paper, and before long he found himself standing outside a destroyed door. What the fuck was going on here? This was definitely not his fault, but whatever, it made what he was about to do all the easier for him. Chaldea wouldn't approve of violence at this point, so he'd do something more crafty. And far more immature. Pulling out Gemma Crystal, he held it for a moment before a large slab of Atlantean wall was formed. Probably useless in most other scenarios, unless he generated and flung walls at people, but the size was juuuuust right for what he was about to do. Namely, he grabbed the slab and, using his enormous strength, slammed it into the door, causing quite a nice, exceptionally snug fit, even if the frame of the door did take some damage in the process. Yes, he was sealing the Counter Guardian inside his own room, he would have his revenge! But, just to make sure the Counter Guardian couldn't destroy the slab, he had other measures. Oh he doubted that the Counter Guardian packed anything that could break the walls of Atlantis. It would take an exceptionally high leveled Anti-Fortress Noble Phantasm, one that could practically guarantee victory, to even begin cracking it. But just to be safe, he placed his hands on the slab, making sure it couldn't be pushed out, and making sure what he was about to do worked. And he started chanting. In the language of the gods to be exact. Ο τρόπος που έχει κλείσει Μπορεί να προστατεύσει εκείνους μέσα Δηλώνω ότι το ιερό Κλειστός Κλειστός Κλειστός Κλειστός Κλειστός Κλειστός Κλειστός Μπορεί να μην είναι κατάρα ούτε ευλογία σπάσει Ας πουλί ούτε άνθρωπος ούτε κτήνος καταπάτηση Δεν μπορούν ούτε άνεμος ούτε κύμα ούτε σεισμός καταστρέφει τα θεμέλια της Δεν μπορεί ποτέ οι θεοί το εγκαταλείψω Για χίλια χρόνια θα σταθεί Με το δικό μου χέρι With his work done, a barrier formed around the slab, then spread left and right to the ends of what could be considered the Counter Guardian's room, effectively sealing him in. He was proud of himself, a ten line incantation in the language of the gods would be a tough nut to crack, something he doubted the Counter Guardian could do. Formed specifically to let nothing in or out, not even Spirit form could phase through. He'd need either Atlas or a magus of his caliber to slowly remove the barrier, and that'd take a while, and even then he'd have the physical slab to deal with. Or they could blow a hole in the walls and turn two apartments into one, intruding on someone else's refuge. Both worked for him really. With his job done, he looked to something else he brought along; the discarded shroud that the Counter Guardian had left behind. Holding his hand in the air, palm facing the floor, he constructed a sign before draping the shroud over the back of the sign. The sign's message? DO NOT DISTURBIf nothing else, Atlas could always appeal to common decency for privacy. And he walked away, leaving him to whatever the future had in store. Oh yes, vengeance was his. He just wasn't aware of the other two he'd left in there. [EXIT] tags: emiya , ROBIN , chiyome notes: one time post, don't mind me, atlas has left the building and there is still room for one more

"Yes, well, the rest of us weren't so lucky." Robert replied to EMIYA's murmurs about Atlas. "Given Chaldea's size, It was inevitable that sooner or later he would have stumbled across Joan or me, and then the same events would have transpired. It's not like we should expect any different; I know I'd still be upset if someone murdered me in my own home. I suppose that hatred is the price we pay for counter-guardianship."
It wasn't that Robert hated Atlas - the man was a nuisance without compare, and he had an awful personality. Thinking about it, it seemed that the man had a thousand more cons than pros about his personality. Yet, it still seemed strange to think of him as someone to hate. After all, it wasn't as if he had actively attempted to destroy the world, he had simply done what he thought would help his nation thrive. It was simply unfortunate that what he believed would help his nation put him in direct contrast with the wishes of Alaya. He wasn't purposefully spiteful, just... wrong.
Though, talking about wrong, EMIYA's complaint about counterguardianship and the fifth holy grail war were things that Robert felt that he had to confront now rather than later. Though they had never quite seen eye-to-eye about their differing ideals, their views on the world almost incompatible, Robert at least knew how he felt. Robert had always believed that killing one man to save a thousand was a fair trade off. Hell, killing one man to save fifty was a fair trade off. Despite this, EMIYA seemed to hate it enough to want to kill his younger self.
"Okay, I've got to ask..." Robert began, one leg crossing over the other. "... why do you hate your job as a Counter-guardian so much? True, We have gone some terrible places, and done some terrible things, but isn't that good? Every time we suffer, it means that some other poor sap doesn't have to. Every time our hands are covered in blood, it means someone else is allowed to retain their innocence.
Besides, it's not as if you could call what Alaya asks us to do 'murder' - It's acts of war. Every single target is an active threat. Hell, even if you cannot quite think of it so optimistically, think about it mathematically. Alaya summons us to kill people who threaten the continued existence of humanity. The smallest the population of the planet has ever been recorded as is 300 million people. Therefore, simply speaking mathematically, if we kill one hundred people, that's still a return of 299 million."
One could almost accuse him of inhumanity right now. His voice was passionate and emphatic, almost statesmanlike, but what he was saying was almost cold. Did he think of those they killed as mere numbers in a checkbook? Something to tally and tabulate, nothing more? No... When EMIYA focused on missions, ROBIN was there befriending locals and getting intel that Alaya hadn't given. How could it be that he was the one speaking like this?!
In truth... it was because of what he had seen during his lifetime. EMIYA, when he was still Shirou, had been an innocent. Even after the Holy Grail War, he had managed to keep his hands clean from the blood of any but his targets. He had never seen the war-zones that Robert had been forced to enter time and again. The sack of Acre, the conquest of the Holy Land, the third crusades. So many corpses that he could no longer tell which were Saracens and which were Christian. That was what serving Alaya helped to prevent on a much, much larger scale. It seemed that he was determined to do whatever it took to stop it.
"Okay, answer me this - Despite not sitting inside the throne proper, we counter-guardians see the holy grail wars just like they do. I saw you, the other you, grow and fight with Saber against the others. I watched you fight in Fuyuki Temple against that bastard king. I saw how you refused to hold back. How is, I don't know, killing Atlas in any way different than killing Gilgamesh? They're both as bad as each other as I see it."
----
He had gotten so caught up in the stir of the motion, in trying to defend what they did to protect the planet, that he had failed to pay attention to Archer's face. Specifically, his eyes. If he had been on his guard more, he might have noticed that he was overtly looking at something over his shoulder. Something, perhaps, or someone? He took a moment, turning his head to look... and saw the girl.
For a solid moment, it was as if time stopped. Damn it! Robert cursed internally at his foolishness. He had gotten so used to physically detecting people around him that he had forgotten that that ability was sealed under the Archer class. His presence detection ability had made him almost aloof, and now he had almost paid the ultimate price for it. he barely had time to switch to spirit form before the blade struck, thankfully passing harmlessly through where he used to be. "..." A silence hung in the air for a moment, before Robert groaned in frustration. "Why is it always the bloody women?! Say what you want about Atlas, but at least he's up front about his attempts to kill us. Say what you want about Vaisey, but at least he never hid his cruelty. So why is it that women are always the sneaky type? Is it in their genes?!"

It was difficult waiting until the end of Robin's little tirade. It went on and on, rehashing the same points that he had already came to accept. They were incompatible with the person I wanted to be now that I was able, but still, it wasn't like I couldn't see where the other Counter Guardian was coming from. "Frankly, I don't see how you can accept service under it. And believe me, it isn't for the reason you think."
I shuffle forward, glancing up at Robert...or more realistically, that girl. She didn't seem to get the hint, I had to be ready to intercept, but not enough to cause Robert to become suspicious. As it was, I had to keep talking. "I understand the numbers. I understand that trying to hold onto ideals is stupid when we're forced to be the ultimate pragmatists. That's just it though, isn't it?" I sigh. "We're forced. We don't have the freedom to do things our own way. We don't have the ability to try to find a better way to resolve things. We come in as a wave of destruction and kill everything in sight...even children and other noncombatants who have no relation to the threat. You're a sniper too...don't you think all the needless collateral damage is just...wasteful?"
I continue to make subtle, and increasingly not-so-subtle gestures to the girl dressed up like a kunoichi, as I continue to answer Robert. "I think of those better ways, less costly ways, less painful ways every second I'm fighting. If I was allowed to act on them, to act even remotely like the heroic spirit I emulate, then service to Alaya would be a joy. That's the main reason I enjoy my time here so much: It's the same goal, same responsibility, but I have discretion."
I stand up. Robert might think I was charged with emotion..but really just trying to shift to get in between Chiyome and Robert as she seemed to shift. "And don't, pretend that it's a war...we're executioners. There's never a battle, there's never a fight. Nero was the closest I had to an actual challenge, but even then...it was almost painfully eaSTOP!"
Right then, Chiyome disappeard from my vision, making an attack I couldn't even see. If I was the target, I could probably find where it was and block it, but as it was, I was helpless. I didn't want to get in the way and risk being killed, but I needed a way to protect my fellow Counter Guardian...fortunately he was able to escape by turning into spirit form. Clearly he had some idea about what was going on, but let me keep motioning and gesturing like an idiot. Wonderful.
