Personal Skills Skill 01 | Blessing of the War God: B | Among his Amazon daughters, Hippolyta was always Ares' favorite, chosen to lead her tribe and wear the golden girdle. His affection is made known through battle, guiding her hand and boosting all of her stats with the exception of luck and mana by one rank to brutally snatch victory. With the power of a god at her back, even the mighty Heracles felt it best to politely ask for her girdle before trying to take it by force.
|
Skill 02 | Divinity: B | As the child of Ares, the Greek god of war, and Otrera, the mythic founder of the Amazon nation, Hippolyta's rank in this skill is quite high. As a measure of her aptitude as a Divine Spirit, it automatically reduces defensive values known as "purge defenses." In addition to this, it can bypass skills such as Enlightenment of the Sacred Fig and Protection of the Faith.
While it is possible for one's dislike for divine beings to lower the rank of this skill, Hippolyta remained on relatively good terms with the Olympian pantheon, especially her father. The one exception is Hera, Queen of Olympus, who Hippolyta holds responsible for sending Heracles to her island and the subsequent chaos that ensued. |
Skill 03 | Cursed Fate with Men: A | As an Amazon, Hippolyta possesses a natural bias against men in general. However, even among the Amazon nation, her life was particularly rife with tragic encounters with men. Countless stories have circulated detailing her death at the hands of Heracles or Theseus and while they are untrue, two of her beloved sisters lost their lives to those men and her own death led to her third sister dying at the hands of Achilles. Because of this, when facing male opponents, Hippolyta is first and foremost an Amazon, gaining all the advantages and weaknesses that come with it.
While facing male opponents, Hippolyta gains a + modifier to her Strength and Agility stats. However, she also gains a - modifier to her Endurance stat when facing such opponents. |
Skill 04 | Charisma: A+ (naturally B) | While the girdle given to Hippolyta by her father was meant to serve as symbolic proof of her position as queen, the only reason that she was worthy of it in the first place was her own inborn potential to lead her people. However, in proclaiming her the one true queen of the Amazons, her father Ares mystically boosted her natural level beyond what was normally possible into a sort of curse of mad devotion.
A mere rumor that Hippolyta might be abducted sent her entire tribe into a murderous frenzy. The thought that she had been killed was enough to drive her Amazons into what amounted to suicide by challenging the nigh invincible Heracles to single combat. The false reports of her abduction to Athens spawned yet another bloody war to recover her. And her true death was a loss so great that it robbed her sister of any reason to continue living. In this regard it truly is a curse as while Hippolyta can inspire her sisters to great lengths, she cannot reign them in. |
Class Skills Skill 01 | Magic Resistance: B | Cancel spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals, it is difficult for them to be affected. Hailing from the Age of the Gods, Hippolyta boasts a naturally high rank in this skill. |
Noble Phantasm | The Ninth Labor: Girdle of the Queen | Rank: B | Type: Anti-Unit (Self) | The golden girdle given to Hippolyta by her father Ares, it is both a symbol of her status as queen of all Amazons as well as her most treasured Noble Phantasm, offering a highly effective defensive ability as the crystallization of the conflicting tales regarding Hippolyta's death.
Depending on who is telling the tale, Hippolyta was killed by Heracles, Theseus, or her own sister while others still maintain that it was one of her other sisters killed in her place. This engraved uncertainty regarding the time and cause of her death has given birth to an ability blurring the lines between a curse of resurrection and Absolute Survive.
When faced with a lethal attack, Hippolyta can utilize the active ability of the girdle, instantly putting her into spirit form and replacing her with a "sister" clone to take the blow in her place so that the true Hippolyta can continue the fight. The process is done with such speed and fluidity that to anyone but Hippolyta herself, it would appear as if the Amazon queen was killed only to emerge unscathed from nowhere.
There are three main limitations to this Noble Phantasm. First, it can only be used three times in total, once for each of Hippolyta's sisters. Second, it can only be used once per topic, representing the separate, conflicting nature of her many death stories. Third, it can only activate in the face of otherwise fatal blows, offering no protection against non-fatal blows regardless of how debilitating they might be. |
| Themiscyra: Bond of Sisterhood | Rank: B | Type: Anti-Squad/Anti-Unit | The hunting spear of Hippolyta's sister, Penthesilea, which eventually claimed the queen's life, serves as her primary weapon while summoned in the Lancer class. Possessing a fine point capable of piercing the thickest of armor and excellent balance for melee combat, it is a superb weapon in every sense of the word. However, the true worth of the spear only becomes apparent when it is thrown.
Rather than being a symbol of Hippolyta's death, the spear is a representation of the loyalty and devotion displayed by her sisters following her death. In the variations of her tale in which she was slain by Heracles, twelve Amazons challenged the Grecian hero to single combat one by one before finally charging him en mass. In the version in which she was captured by Theseus, her Amazons launched an all out assault against Athens in a desperate attempt to retrieve her. Following Hippolyta's true death during a hunting accident, Penthesilea was filled with such grief that she sailed to Troy and challenged Achilles himself to try and repent for her sin.
When thrown, the spear is joined mid-flight by twelve identical copies of equal strength and performance, representing the twelve Amazons who challenged Heracles in her name. Though they cannot be fully summoned like the army of a certain King of Conquerors, Hippolyta's Amazons make their presence known regardless in the form of a devastating volley of spears raining down upon her enemies, after which the original is automatically returned to her hand. Depending on the situation, Hippolyta can exercise pinpoint control over all thirteen spears to target an entire group or focus their combined might on a single foe. While her primary weapon will change when summoned in other classes, this technique is also available to her as an Archer, multiplying each of her arrows rather than her spear. |

[PTab=Profile]Character Details 1 Height / Weight : 5 ft 10 in / 155 lbs
Source : Greek Mythology
Home Region : Greece
Alignment : Chaotic Neutral
Gender : Female
Appearance For all her fury and skill in combat, the queen of the Amazons has a remarkably girlish face. The dainty chin and button nose are not quite what one would expect from a warrior queen though this is somewhat mitigated by her tomboyish bob cut of white hair and piercing red eyes further accented by lines of red war paint. In regards to her physique at least, Hippolyta has the brutal, almost savage appearance one would expect from a queen of the infamous Amazons. Having long since abandoned any traditional trappings of femininity, Hippolyta has molded her body into a temple of hard-trained muscle. Thick arms, broad shoulders, and chiseled abs beneath skin darkened by the sun all point to a lifestyle dedicated solely to war craft.
This lifestyle is further reflected in her manner of dress. Rather than any polished suit of intricate armor or frilly dress, Hippolyta covers herself in light leather armor and tough cloth wrapping around her chest and arms with white fur accents. While she does not have the pure defensive advantages offered by full plate armor, the flexibility and agility she is allowed flows quite well with the hit and run raiding tactics of both the Amazons and the Lancer class.
Ornamentation is kept to a minimum with Hippolyta. Around her neck is a string of large black beads and around her waist, she wears the golden girdle given to her by the god of war himself. A thick leather belt with numerous gold accents and a massive buckle molded in the shape of a snarling lion, it is the symbol of her leadership and most prized possession. Atop her head is a rather unique headdress consisting of a horned bronze mask and red mane which previously belonged to her mother. Upon becoming queen, Hippolyta added two long braids of her cut off hair to the headdress. Personality In all things, Hippolyta strives to embody the Amazon ideal. Strong, independent, assertive, and stubborn to a fault, Hippolyta is unyielding in the face of adversity and unforgiving in the face of treachery. As a child of the brutal god, Ares, Hippolyta is every bit as capable of dispensing truly frightening levels of violence against anyone foolish enough to cross her or her fellow Amazons.
Of particular note is her disposition towards men. Like the rest of her people, Hippolyta has renounced the need for men in her society. Throughout her life, she held no compunctions against slaughtering the men of nearby tribes as needed and in general looked down upon them as nothing but trouble. The one exception to this was the great hero, Heracles who was able to earn her respect with his mighty physique and honorable demeanor. However, her decision to trust the son of Zeus soon proved to be a mistake and led to a series of tragedies for the Amazon nation. As such, Hippolyta has become even more distrustful of men and now holds a special grudge against Heracles, Theseus, and Achilles in particular.
While in battle, Hippolyta roars and rages with the full wrath of a bloodthirsty lioness but outside of it, she can be surprisingly reserved in social settings. She speaks only when she believes she has something of true worth to say and is prone to awkward misunderstandings (though she is loath to admit it). Despite that, she does have a protective streak leading to her often trying to take on a sort of "big sister" role to other female heroes. History Born of the Greek god of war, Ares and the founder of the Amazon nation, Ortera, Hippolyta was the oldest of four daughters. Growing up in a harsh culture revolving around violence, Hippolyta learned early in life that strength and will reigned above everything else. When her mother was killed by the hero Bellerophon, young Hippolyta was forced to embody that lesson for her sisters and fellow Amazons as the heir apparent.
Chosen by Ares as the mightiest among the Amazons, she was blessed with the golden girdle cementing her authority and with it around her waist, led her nation to a golden age of prosperity. Sadly, it was a short lived period of happiness before ill tidings arrived on the shores of Themiscyra in the form of Heracles and his companion Theseus.
Having heard tales of her golden girdle, Heracles was sent to the island of the Amazons to retrieve it as his Ninth Labor. Meeting the hero at the shore alone, Hippolyta welcomed Heracles to her island and rather than risk an outright battle with the Amazon, Heracles conversed with her at length, showing her due respect as a fellow warrior before explaining his purpose and politely asking for the girdle. Having been moved by his obvious strength and honesty, Hippolyta removed her girdle and moved to hand it over with the understanding that it would be returned to her shortly.
However, Hera, bound and determined to see Heracles brought to ruin, disguised herself as an Amazon and spread rumors that Hippolyta was being kidnapped by Heracles. Charging to their queen's rescue, chaos erupted as Heracles struck Hippolyta from behind, thinking her the mastermind behind the entire plan.
Lying unconscious on the shifting shore, Hippolyta was powerless to do anything as her sister, Melanippe, was killed in battle while mistaken for her and her other sister, Antiope was captured by Theseus and taken back to Athens to be his bride. When she eventually awakened, Hippolyta was in no shape to set sail to rescue her sister and without her girdle could not stop her bloodthirsty Amazons from heading out on a rescue mission that eventually led to Antiope's tragic death.
Left alone to heal and mourn, Hippolyta took her time to plan her vengeance, intending to not only retrieve her girdle, but claim the lives of both Theseus and Heracles. However, fate had other plans and while deer hunting with her youngest sister, Penthesilea, Hippolyta was fatally pierced from behind by a spear thrown by her own sibling. Crushed by the shame of mistakenly killing her own sister and queen, Penthesilea took up the position of queen herself and eventually sailed to fight in the Trojan War as a way to repent her sins. Though she fought valiantly against the elder Ajax, she was eventually slaughtered in single combat against none other than Achilles himself. Misc. She loves beef.
