[attr="class","distortpost"]Athens, Greece. A city with a rich history like many places you would find in Greece. This becomes especially important when you work for an organization that gives a form to the spirit of great figures who have been long dead. Not that those details matter much to those who were given the chance to travel here.
Arden was in a bit of a sour mood. When he was in training Arden had learned about how they would send their agent backwards in time or even across space to stop calamities from occurring, yet since he had been given the stamp of approval he had yet to try out the machines. When he was approached to take part in this mission he had immediately accepted without realizing he wouldn't need to utilize their amazing machines. Instead he flew on a plane to Europe, not that air travel wasn't at least a little interesting itself.
Regardless of any previous issues, Arden was here in modern day Athens to take part in a fancy gala and steal something from under another magus' nose, within a vault within his workshop no less. It would not be an easy mission when getting caught was not something they could risk at all. The first step was entering the Acropolis Museum using the cover of the gala to avoid getting caught. Arden had chosen to go for the route of 'pretending to be a party guest' over 'sneaking in like a spy.' He was wearing a pure white suit with matching shoes and accessories that looked quite tight over his barrel torso. His neck and arms appeared to almost bulge from the suit. Despite the apparent tightness, it didn't seem to make moving difficult as he still managed to walk with a level of speed and fluidity one would not expect.
He was given two Servants to assist him in this task. He was still understanding the full implications of every 'class' these Servants could be. Sabers used swords, Lancers used spears, etc. His first Servant was of the Avenger class, a relatively new addition to the possible permutations these Servants could be. He wasn't sure what an 'Avenger' could do for a mission like this, or really what they did at all. Avenge things, he guessed? He personally would have liked an Assassin. The name implied they would be sneaky which was something they needed. A Caster would be his next favorite. He was happy to have his second companion in that class. She was a shaman from what he had learned about her during the trip over meaning she was not all that acquainted with western magecraft. Still, her abilities far exceeded his own.
Chaldea had taken care of all arrangements up to getting into the gala. Security checked their invitations and credentials, even supplying the Servants with clothing that registered them as human to most detection systems and were stylish. Now that they were inside it was up to them to make it happen. The gala was held in one of the larger exhibits turned into a banquet hall located near the center of the museum. From the information they had received, the vault was located closer to the rear of the museum hidden behind a physical and magical barrier where some of the more unusual pieces were stored. The banquet hall was packed with dozens of people who were conversing in small circles all around. Pleasant music was being played by a string quartet on stage. They were still waiting for more guests to arrive before moving on to the entertainment. Thankfully, the guests here seemed to avoid those they didn't have any business with.
"Hmmmmmmm," Arden contemplated thoughtfully, while chewing a mouthful of shrimp and cocktail sauce, "Mmmmmmmmm."
He swallowed, taking a moment to regard his companions. "So far so good. We got inside." He downed his glass of punch and let out a content sigh. "All that's left is getting away from the main festivities, locating the vault, getting past the defenses while simultaneously avoiding the guards. Mmmmm, so far so good."
He plucked shrimp one by one between each of his fingers and popped them into his mouth in the same manner. Eating made him feel better and he did some of his best thinking while eating. "We should wait until the entertainment begins before trying to leave this room. From there, if we remain out of sight and avoid triggering the magical defenses it should be easy." Arden looked out over the hall, studying not only the guests but the guards as well. He moved to face the Servants. "The Servants are forced to do most of the work during missions, but I plan to carry my own weight here. This isn't some calamity or apocalypse. This is a heist. So I'll be able to help much more. Edmond, Nana. Please rely on me."
He spoke with sincerity. He wasn't considering them amazing heroes beyond the caliber of regular humans. He wasn't considering them tools for him to use to complete the mission. He was speaking to them as equals, like they were living, breathing humans. He respected them and hoped they would do the same to him. His sincere feelings lingered in the air even after the words had long vanished, along with Arden as he had long left to gather more food from the banquet tables and servers.
