[PTab=Profile] Character Details Height / Weight: 173 cm / 67 kg Source: Italian Mythology Home Region: Italy Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Gender: Female Attribute: Earth An Italian tribal queen that is compared to the amazons of lore. She has a striking resemblance to Penthesilea of Greek Mythology. Her divine speed have earned her the epithet "The Swift." A Life Dedicated as a Virgin Maiden Camilla was born to King Metabus of the Volsci Italic tribe and his wife Casmilla. While she was a mere infant, Metabus was forced away from his throne by his own Volsci subjects due to civil discord and had to escape into the wilderness, her daughter within his arms. The result of the civil discord was because of Casmilla, who was not only a non-Volsci member but also a person of low social status. The Volsci are very prideful of themselves, and should a member of their tribe marry another person from outside the tribe, they expect the outsider to be of high social status in order to balance the standings between a Volsci member and the outsider, for the Volsci essentially view themselves as people of high social status. Metabus had secretly married Casmilla out of love for each other despite the latter’s low social status. Knowing what he had dug himself into, Metabus knew that he cannot allow his wife’s status be revealed to the tribe, lest the Volsci fall into a state of unrest that can potentially transcend into a rebellion against the ruling royal family. Metabus did not even reveal to the Volsci tribe of his partner or his marriage. The king hid the undeclared queen in his residence. The Volsci had always thought Metabus had no partner of his own before, during and after his ascension to the throne. Whenever people came to graciously visit the king, Casmilla would always wear an attire that would show her nobility while putting up the facade that she is a private servant to the king. However, due to an incident that exposed the relationship between the two by the very few people who knew the truth about the marriage, the queen's real status, and even the secret birth of a certain child, all the Volsci members gathered to hunt down the queen and her daughter, both of whom are accused of sullying the imperial line of the throne with their low-class blood. They were also adamant in hunting down Metabus for the act of marrying a commoner into the royal family and intended to overthrow him from the throne. Casmilla would proudly give up her life to let the king and daughter escape in a noble sacrifice, and thus begins the flight of the latter two escapees. The two reached the Amazenus River, which blocked their path due to the rain creating a flooding current. Thinking of his child first, Metabus bounded Camilla to a spear with wrappers of bark and offered his daughter to Diana, promising the Goddess that Camilla will become a virgin maiden and warrior in service of the Goddess in return for the girl's safety. He then threw the spear across the river, before he followed suit by swimming across the river just as soon as the Volsci pursuers arrived. Reaching the other side, Metabus saw that Camilla was safe and unharmed, and the two retreated into the wilderness under the protection of Diana where they would live there for years. Unable to pursue them as the river currents increased in ferocity even further, the Volsci gave up chase and returned to their territory to settle the issue of the vacant seat on the throne. Growth in the Forest While still an infant, Camilla suckled on a divine mare given by Diana, which was the cause of her renowned and legendary speed. Upon taking her first steps, she was immediately armed with a javelin, a spear, and a bow and arrows for hunting. Under her father's tutelage, Camilla would eventually become a skilled huntress and resolute warrior, proficient in the weapons she wielded and the hunting tactics she uses. She trained within the wilderness during her childhood with her father as well as the shepherds that lived in the woods and the hills to keep her company. Once she was of age, Camilla had become like an amazon, never associating herself with female responsibilities but rather always spending time learning the art of combat like a genuine warrior. One day, Camilla had been hunting for deer with her father Metabus. Metabus found a deer and attempted to kill it, but it started to run away. Camilla used her amazing agility to catch up to it and cut off the deer's escape route while Metabus gave chase. She lunged the spear for the head, but the deer managed to barely dodge it, and instead, she impaled her father in the chest. As she grabbed her wounded father in her arms, Metabus told Camilla that she was strong enough to endure life's hardships alone now. As those were his last words, Metabus passed away within Camilla's arms, the latter still shocked at this accidental occurrence. She started to grieve, so much, that she just wanted to die. However, her pride as a warrior told her to die in battle honorably. Reclaiming the Volsci Hearing of the impending war between King Turnus of the Rutuli and Aeneas and the Trojans that was caused by the courting of Princess Lavinia, Camilla gathered a band of warriors and maidens under her command from the Volsci tribe, leading them to fight alongside King Turnus against the Trojans but also secretly seeking her own death at the hands of a worthy opponent. While she was met with intense hostility from a majority of the Volsci tribe members during her recruitment efforts, she was not fazed to first reclaim the throne for herself and her family. The Volsci were undergoing a civil war, divided into many factions wishing to claim the throne for themselves. However, trained to the bone from her years of hunting since childhood as well as being divinely empowered through the protection coming from Diana, Camilla single-handedly defeated all the warriors that opposed her. She did not kill anyone, but subdued those who refused to submit to her rule. She convinced them through sheer combat skills and her ferocious fighting spirit displayed by amazons of legend. While she was disappointed that no one was strong enough to defeat and kill her, she was proud enough in reclaiming the throne in honor of her parents. Shortly soon after, the Volsci tribe was united under one rule, reigned by Camilla, queen and sole ruler of the Volsci. Her first step was to participate in the upcoming war between the Rutuli and the Trojans, so she gathered those who were willing to fight and follow her into death. The War for Italy The war started between the Rutuli and the Trojans, and Camilla would display might worthy to be feared by her enemies. Using her spear, she struck down the Trojan heroes one by one. She also caused chaos within the enemy ranks with her archery skill and her usage of her great battle axe, and on one occasion, had crossed paths with Aeneas, engaging in a short skirmish before the two were separated by the intensity of the battle. It was no question that Camilla is indeed the strongest on the side of the Rutuli’s. But soon, her life would begin to fade out, her upcoming death approaching closer on the first day of the war. As she was heading to strike down another Trojan hero named Chloreus who was fleeing from her as she wanted his armor, another Trojan named Arruns was stalking her throughout the entire battlefield. He found his chance when Camilla was too distracted with the pursuit of Chloreus and impaled her in the chest with a thrown javelin when the opportunity presented itself. She soon died within the arms of her maidens. While Camilla had regrets in that she did not die in a truly honorable way, her heroism would be remembered within Italy for being a person clearly above any other mortals, males and females alike, and was sung with praises on par with praises meant for the divine. Glorious Armor of the Virgin Goddess The golden armor that Lancer wears into combat. An armor made of gold should not have existed back in the land where Lancer lived for there was a lack of gold to mine to forge the armor. It was gifted to the virgin maiden by Diana, and it became the most durable armor back in Lancer's life. It is durable enough to block even the blade of the weapon striking against it and receive a minor scratch as a result. It will take an attack with A-ranked strength or higher behind it to completely break through that armor, including attacks that have strength equivalent to an A-rank. Should an attack with B-ranked strength strike the armor, it will most definitely crack it and another attack of that same strength at the same spot will break it. C-ranked strength attacks will scratch it, and with a barrage of repeated attacks on the same spot and with persistence, it can be broken through. Meanwhile, D and E-ranked strength attacks will not put a single dent on it. Other than its durability, nothing else is notable about the armor, and it does not have a defense against magecraft nor is it divinely blessed. The Avenging Patron Diana When Camilla was slain in the Italic war by Arruns, the lamenting Diana ordered her attendant, one of the Nereids known as Opis, to avenge the fallen warrior-queen by slaying her killer. Given magical weapons from the goddess, Opis would also lament at the sight of Camilla's body, before she would shoot Arruns with a magical bow and arrow, striking him dead. These transpiring events would occur when Camilla would die, as the killer of the warrior-queen would be burdened with the fate of death as a result of slaying a virgin maiden under the protection of Diana. Whoever kills Camilla would have fate work against them in that they would die in the very same combat event that had the killer slay the Volsci warrior-queen. |
