The work goes smoothly, though it's hampered slightly by a weight on my shoulder that makes me not want to work past this point. However, from my structural analysis, there shouldn't be any further issues. I'm rather reluctant to leave and disturb Rin, so I doublecheck the wide range that I can reach from this vantage point. However, that changes when she reels back in surprise from my obviously ill-timed admission.
The fact that she reacted so violently had two obvious justifications behind it. The first was that she was shocked someone who came from such stupidity and gained such abrasiveness as myself could attract someone. This was a valid criticism, and likely the one I will interpret it with. The other was that it was shock that I had eliminated her 'place,' as, frankly, the most important woman in my life, even if it was merely a Master-Servant relationship.
There was a third answer, but it was so absurd it didn't need to be even considered.
I sigh at her veiled sarcasm and obvious desire to know more than she lets on. If there was one great flaw of Rin Tohsaka, it was that she had great difficulty speaking honestly. Although this situation was less obvious, and had another explanation. "Rin...did you hit your head that hard?" I ask, as I step up from the completed boiler, resocketing it and starting the water. If you did, I should take you to the infirmary, if not, then you shouldn't be so sarcastic."
The offer for lunch sounds enjoyable. I'd certainly like to ask her a few questions without the need to fix something staring me in the face and distracting me. "Sure. Were you in Chaldea long enough to get groceries? If not, we can eat in the cafeteria, or in my room. Either way works, but I'd rather have a bit of privacy if it's all the same to you."
