It was not necessary to explain the reason she was present during that year, it seems, as his first guess was the right one. "That is correct. I participated in the Fifth Holy Grail war of Fuyuki as the servant Saber. My master and I were the victors and had... claimed the Holy Grail." She stopped there, figuring that further clarification would only serve to divert from the current line of conversation. The actuality of the war's final moments was the defeat of an illegitimate master and his servant from a prior ritual, and her own destruction of the terrible curse known as the Holy Grail. With those facts out of the way, Saber prepared herself for the answer she could have predicted. She knew roughly what to expect the moment Tohsaka's name was mentioned, so she was not surprised when he told her the year. 2016, twelve years after that incident, and Tohsaka was still alive. Her face was staunch in the face of that truth, and she would be lying if she didn't admit she was somewhat relieved to know she was here; a familiar face in a foreign organization. They would have to rendezvous eventually then if that was the case, as perhaps she could explain the whole story of Chaldea to her. Yes, Saber would believe the words from her mouth, even if the woman was more than a little dubious in nature. Then, when he decided it was time to unveil yet another name she was overly familiar with, her arm shot to the edge of the door with a resolute bang, grasping it within her metal gauntlet as if to crush the metal. Her arm tensed and she had half of a mind to slam the opening shut at that moment, but she resisted out of respect for her earlier promise. The reason to close herself off inside her room was to hide the reaction she instinctively knew was present on her face; the feeling of heat running up her neck and the difficult emotion contorting her face. She had the urge to hide it out of weakness, but was ashamed of that weakness, and forced herself to stand firm. Rather, she attempted to at least lessen the effect it had on her... "Sh-Shirou, so you say... I've... heard the name before, it seems. How coincidental for us to end up in the same place, yes..." She swallowed dryly after sputtering those words out, regretting it only once she had already spoken. Her first mistake was mentioning Shirou by his first name, which caused the blood to rise even further, but she hoped that the man in front of her didn't notice. "Anyways... I have no desire to fight with my own allies, but I will bear my sword if they challenge me. It is of fair significance for myself to meet Tohsaka Rin. I knew of her from that Holy Grail War, and is probably the one I trust most to assist me with any troubles I possess regarding Chaldea."

Ah, he'd touched a nerve. A very sensitive nerve, if the color of her face was anything to go back. Atlas waggled his eyebrows as a teasing smile overtook his features. "Ah. You're in the other half then." He gently shook his head with a chuckle. If it wasn't one half, then it was the other. This woman had no interest in Rin Tohsaka, so naturally her attention would shift to the Counter Guardian; Shirou Emiya. "I'm going to go ahead and guess that I'd get a no if I asked you to dinner then." He gently teased. This woman though, he was starting to think she might have been the Counter Guardian's Servant. Maybe something to ask about later. Letting the smile drop for a moment, he sighed. If she was really going to be taking part in this, then he should probably fill her in on the details. "There are two things I should let you know though if you're joining the Emiyabowl; the first being that he and I do not get along. Shirou is the asshole who sunk Atlantis and frankly, committed genocide. It's a long story. Maybe over dinner." Because he knew the details of Emiya, a Counter Guardian summoned throughout time. SO his involvement with Atlantis might seem to make... little sense. But then his gaze hardened slightly to meet hers. A sense of warning, not of hostility, but there were other factors in play. "Also, if you're as decent as you say you are, you may want to back off for a bit. Emiya's wife died not too long ago on a camping trip and he is most definitely not over it. It was their honeymoon, so that probably didn't help" Namely, her crush had gotten married to a Fox girl at some point... Atlas was sure anyway. Tamamo was a weird one, but it was better to play it safe, especially if Emiya's moodiness was anything to go by. "Hasn't stopped people like Tohsaka from trying to take advantage of his grief stricken state though, so it's up to you." It was worth noting that was the second time a lethal camping trip had been mentioned. tags: Artoria Pendragon notes: --

She could only deny it. That was the sole option available to her. For the sake of her own pride, Saber would deny it. The way his face transformed once he realized something she most assuredly did not want him to realize caused her stomach to tighten up. His laugh further exacerbated the sour feeling, and Saber found herself turning crimson in the face as her expression fought against every last fiber of his being that was humiliating her. This was an affront against her and something worth calling upon Excalibur for, surely. Yes, her victory would be assured then. "A-Absolutely not! It seems you are one of such baseless assumptions, and it is quite uncomely of you! I would advise you cease that for your own sake."There was only so much teasing the King of Knights could take, and by the time he dared invite her to dinner, she was just moments away from summoning Invisible Air to blast him into the opposite wall to save face. Luckily, Atlas seemed to know when precisely to become serious. That is when he said something once again unexpected, as if he hadn't already done so many times over. His words were an arctic-cold rod inserted into her back, freezing her in place for several seconds as the information washed over her mind and settled. The next time Saber moved, it was to close her eyes gently and offer a satisfied smile, for a resolution had been reached. The Emiya Shirou that she knew was not the same as the Emiya Shirou spoke of by Atlas, for it was impossible for these two individuals to be the same. Not only impossible because their actions conflicted too heavily, but physically impossible for they did not live during the same eras. Even if these two identities were in fact of the same origin, Saber recognized that such a possibility was likely due to the unshakable ideal he possessed. There was only one feasibility if that was the case, to which Saber released a sigh of happiness. "Emiya is one of the summoned Servants, is he not? That is fine, as I have no intentions to pursue him, or anyone. I do not have any romantic interests and do not seek any. I am simply here to carry out the mission assigned to me by my summoner, Chaldea."That's right: Emiya Shirou as a Heroic Spirit. It was something to be predicted, even if he seemed incompetent during the time she was his servant, because there was great potential in his ability compounded with his selfless ideal. The man he was now was inevitably a someone completely different from the boy she left behind, and she briefly wondered what Heroic Spirit Emiya would look like. She found herself lost in thought as she tried to envision it—that familiar red hair, those amber eyes, the boyish smile she was so fond of... but on a more masculine body. The concept was impossibly hilarious, and Saber could only smile at it. But, once she had had her fill of such fantasies, she would return to the present, calmer than before. She was the same Saber that Atlas had first come into contact with; a knight in a hardened shell, filled with her sense of duty and honor, and slightly annoyed at the man who had invaded her personal quarters. "Also, you have ignored my statement, so I suppose I should ask you directly this time. Where should I go to find Tohsaka Rin? I would prefer to have her explain the situation at hand."

Where was Rin? Well the truth was Atlas couldn't give her a direct answer. He couldn't really say that she was in a specific spot because she could be anywhere. But considering the work that she had been doing, there was a logical place for her to be. "Prrrrrobably Celenike's lab, but I wouldn't go there." He shook his head, putting his arms up in an X symbol, trying to dissuade her from what he considered a terrible idea. "Unless you're into creepy dissections, people suspended on meathooks, rotting cadavers, all that." He wasn't entirely sure what went on in that lab, but he'd heard rumors, and they weren't pleasant. He uncrossed his arms and held them up, "If you're 'lucky,' Celenike might command spell you onto the table." he continued, emphasizing the word lucky with some air quotes. "Like I said, she's the one Master here who can use command spells outside of missions, and she loves to cut up cute things." Astolfo was living proof of that. He wondered how the little guy could keep his head together after all the shit that Celenike put him through. It'd be a shame for anyone else to go through that. "If you must speak to her, let me track her down then bring her to you. Or I guess you can come with, whatever." He wasn't really sure where else she could be. Trismegistus? Gym? Cafeteria? Still, he couldn't express how terrible of an idea just marching into Celenike's lab would be. With that out of the way, there was one ever minor slip that he had noted. That teasing smirk came back as his golden eyes narrowed in amusement. "By the waaaaaay," He started in a playful tone. "I think the word you were looking for was unbecoming, was it not?" He put his hand over his mouth to hide the smirk that was becoming a chesire grin. "Otherwise, I must admit that I am rather flattered that you think I'm naturally comely~" tags: Artoria Pendragon notes: --

She stood by and heard him out, even through the slightly nauseating description of this Master Celenike's laboratory. Of course, she did not find such ventures as the one he described very pleasant, but she was a person used to working under despicable conditions in order to achieve her goal. Tohsaka Rin would see her if she came, and that was what was important. Back during the fifth Holy Grail War of Fuyuki, it was only due to her willingness to explain the situation her master had been drawn into that saved his life. For everything that Shirou was, bright was not one of them, and she feared for how far they would have made it without her. Tohsaka Rin truly was an exceptional instructor in that regard. She didn't mind heading in alone, but she also did not entirely mind being accompanied by Atlas if he offered. His proposal was a beneficial one, as he was already familiar with the base's layout and its tenants. Saber would be wasting time trying to navigate the area on her own, for even her instinct couldn't make up for the preposterous size of this place. Yes, the proper choice was to accept his help and head out with him, and she was about to speak up in order to accept it. Her mouth opened, but... then he finally overstepped the invisible boundary he had been testing this entire time and said something regretful. With an expressionless face, she brought her arms up in front of her and enclosed her hands around an imaginary weapon's grip. Inwardly, the knight apologized for the action she was about to commit, the destruction that she was about to allow to unfold. The Holy Sword of King Arthur, with enough power to incinerate an army one thousand men strong and turn the ground into scorched earth to leave a great disorder in the land that would never fade. The light summoned forth of which no human magecraft of any kind could match it; this was Saber's Noble Phantasm. "EX-" she muttered the first syllable and already the atmosphere became unsettled with volatile winds. A miniature star formed within her hands for a split second before erupting into a gleaming blade with a brilliance so overwhelming that its shine would not allow even Atlas' eyes to observe the pure silver metal that it was masking. Gravity would seem to lessen, and the ground beneath Saber's would begin to splinter with hollow creaks. But among this chaos there was an undeniable beauty to the activation of the sword, as golden lights began to form from nothingness throughout the air, like fireflies in the dark of night. Compared to the luster of this weapon, everything else was dark and dull. This sword, straining to be released, was pointed unashamedly at Atlas, before Saber finished the evocation... "-CALIBUR!!!" ~End Thread~

It was the emotionless stare of death. One of those things that you could easily pick up on. When someone seemed just normal before and now they were staring at you blankly, and then they were powering up their golden sword of ridiculous--wait a minute what the hell? Atlas stared at the golden blade, immediately realizing the identity of the woman before him. That made... number three then. Although he'd yet to see evil Arthur. Pointing a finger at her, he warned her against that in the best way that the eloquent King of Atlantis could achieve. "No. Bad. Bad idea. Awful. Don't do it."She did anyway, naturally. Nobody ever listened to Atlas. The first syllable caused an immediate reaction as he threw a hand into a pocket. As the blast of light came flying right at Atlas, a crystalline wall appeared in front of him, stopping the blast momentarily. It was said that to even hope to break the walls of Atlantis, one would need a weapon that could promise victory. Well, here it was. It was by no means quick, but Excalibur was slowly eating through the wall, completely undiminished in power. Stepping back, Atlas erected another wall before letting out a cry of Χώρος! Excalibur finally blasting through the wall. When it was over, he was leaning standing a distance away, behind Artoria. Looking at what remained of the destruction, he just started laughing. "Yoooouuuu are in sooooo much trouble." He closed his mouth so that it died down into a chuckle, but continued as his body began to astralize. "But you never denied it~" His body vanished bit by bit into the air as he gave a last wag of his finger, it was probably best for him to get the hell out of there. Seriously for the best. No Heroic Spirit in existed relished the idea of being on the receiving end of that golden blade and Atlas, for all his talk, didn't relish it either. It was beautiful, but even more beautiful when not aimed at his face. "If things don't work out in the Emiyabowl, give me a call~"Apparently trying the kill the man had backfired spectacularly on multiple fronts. [EXIT] tags: Artoria Pendragonnotes: --
