NAME: Wakahisa Kinu
[PTabbedContent][PTab=APPEARANCE]
Standing at a mere 4’8” (142cm) and weighing 70 pounds (32kg), Kinu looks like a particularly slim young teenage boy despite his age as a homunculus; having had his aging sacrificed for his lifespan as an artificial being. Although restricted to this form like most other homunculus, he appears somewhat less pale and artificial compared to others of his kind; partially due to his possession’s gradual illusions and partially due to the means of his upkeep. He has straight, chocolate-brown hair cut into a simple but scruffy bob-cut, and round hazel eyes that accentuate his young looks. Befitting his diminutive stature, Kinu is generally a meek and guarded soul; although his shy body language can sometimes simply be misread as professional or effeminate. Due to his magecraft, Kinu has a noticeable sweet aroma consistently around him similar to the scent of vanilla.
Kinu typically wears a beige, red-rimmed blazer over a standard white dress shirt and black dress pants; although he often wears a black scarf to help protect his naturally weaker body from the cold. Although he does not care much for fashion, Kinu has a small wardrobe to work with; and can often be seen wearing thicker outfits when he can get away with a little less professionalism in order to aid his fragile form further against the cold. While possessed by Kagero, Kinu sprouts a pair of black-furred fox ears and a matching set of tails; alongside a sprinkling of whiskers.

[PTab=PERSONALITY]
Even if it hadn’t been for his mute nature, Kinu is especially shy and meek; often going out of his way to avoid social contact if possible. Although not suffering from any phobia regarding socialising, Kinu is still slightly afraid of people on the whole – unsurprisingly, the loud nature of Servants don’t make them much more welcome compatriots. However, this nature doesn’t stem from a distaste for talking on the whole or the like; as Kinu is quite happy to listen or simply silently be around people; it just takes a bit of time for him to become comfortable around others. Most of all, he finds loud noises and surprises the most mortifying; so particularly feisty souls will usually be met with a hasty retreat rather than much in the way of tolerance. When actually upset or cornered, he is something of a cry-baby despite his often stoic approach to situations; which has become something of a reputation for him.
For the most part, Kinu doesn’t like to communicate via alternative means despite his mute nature; disliking the idea of having to explain himself through writing or arts. Instead, he prefers to keep his thoughts to himself beyond his physical gestures and expressions; perhaps valuing people who are considerate enough to read them and come to their own conclusions rather than having to spell out his feelings. Kinu generally just communicates with simple nods or shakes of his head, and although he can seem stoic this nature just makes his actual expressions all the more clear in their meaning.
In his free time, Kinu mostly likes to sleep – while not really a hobby, it lets him maintain his body better than activity, so it’s his preferred way to spend his time. However, in terms of actual hobbies, Kinu has developed an interest in weaving and fabric design; a much appreciated habit as he often ends up patching up the outfits of Chaldea’s members. While he doesn’t tend to make his own designs very often, he is quite eager to please when it comes to others’ requests… so long as they pay for the materials themselves. He also enjoys a variety of Japanese arts and cultural practices; most likely due to his host spirit's oriental nature's presence.
When pushed into combat or similar stress, Kinu tends to flee if possible – however, when he really does have to act for his own good, he shows an unlikely determination. Despite his meek demeanour, Kinu is a case of velvet covering steel; showing a rare resolve for a homunculus when finally forced into action. However, it is unclear how much of this is Kinu and how much could be the effect of Kagero’s presence… though, perhaps it is unfair to say they are even separate to begin with.

[PTab=HISTORY]
As with any homunculus, Kinu started his life in a workshop – however, it is probably better to say that his life started long before he awoke. During the preparation for the FATE project, a great many studies were formed surrounding the possibility of contracting spirits in a more mana-efficient manner to the standard way of summoning implemented via the Holy Grail War’s approach. Kinu was one of these projects; formulated under the possibility of utilising a spirit or Servant’s capabilities in a physical form via a homunculus. Using a seemingly long-dead kitsune’s hoshi-no-tama (supposedly named ‘Kagero’) from the Magus Association’s archives as a template, they aimed to revive the spirit’s abilities within a homunculus husk; and with a new sentience… homunculi were much easier to order around than spirits, to say the least.
And hence Kinu was born after a long period of experimentation aiming for an ideal body. As the rest of the FATE project moved ahead, the final product of the homunculus research was rushed out; leading to Kinu’s troubling state. Technically, the project was a success – Kinu could indeed draw on his host spirits powers, and recognised Chaldea’s operatives as his owner rather than formulating his own ambitions or will. However, the damage on his already fragile homunculus body was too severe to make it worth the trouble; and the prana usage involved was anything but efficient. While they had indeed produced a spirit encapsulated in a homunculus, the project had failed to make the stolen magic worth the trouble involved.
Although the project was scrapped, Kinu was sustained despite being faulty – disposing of him would have destroyed the hoshi-no-tama within him; being a major waste of a meaningful resource. Instead, he was allowed to continue living; working for Chaldea like any other homunculus. As time went on, there began to be signs that the kitsune within him was stirring, however; making his survival even more worthwhile for the sake of research – and hence Kinu lives to this day; albeit with a guillotine waiting over his neck. If that weren't enough; even with the presence of a spirit binding him to the planet akin to an ideal homunculus, Kinu's lifespan is especially questionable - it is a wonder he has survived since the FATE project, let alone much longer, given his flawed and fragile form. His lifespan was originally estimated to only be 15 years given this poor state, but Kagero's influence seems to be keeping him going despite this... however, it is likely only borrowed time.
Being anything but ignorant of the threat surrounding his mere existence, Kinu has always been withdrawn from Chaldea’s operations and community; understandably terrified that one missed step might lead to his doom. However, the Grand Order project and the tales of saving the world seemed to stir something within the spirit that had been implanted within him – perhaps recognition of Gaia’s will, or perhaps just recognition of a taste of power. The homunculus was promptly conscripted into the project as a provisional master, with hopes that the operations would encourage his synchronisation with his spiritual parasite… however, it seems as if there are ulterior motives to Kinu’s desire to be a part of the project.

[PTab=MAGECRAFT]
Although he technically does have impressive magic circuits like most other homunculus given their original designs, Kinu’s have been assimilated into the hoshi-no-tama that was implanted in him. Due to this, he is only able to draw upon a sixth of his circuits, allowing little magic beyond maintaining a contract. The hoshi-no-tama also causes an overall drain on his body while not in use as it saps his circuits, leaving Kinu with an unnaturally fragile body even for a homunculus. However, due to the hoshi-no-tama’s host kitsune, Kinu is able to be possessed by the spirit and temporarily use her magic and in turn access the prana stored in her hoshi-no-tama. While doing so manifested fox-like features on Kinu’s body, it does not appear to affect him mentally despite being a possession. Due to the influence of the kitsune, Kinu can use draw upon greater physical capabilities while under the spell; but upon running out of mana he experiences a severe burnout as the hoshi-no-tama saps his body to recreate itself. This generally appears as him going comatose, but in more severe usages of mana it can manifest as more serious physical effects.
Formalwear Magic:
Slot 1: Yukikaze
Rank: D
Description:
A spell that conjures a gentle aromatic scent from Kinu, which inspires intense drowsiness from those who breathe it. Although it is easily dispersed and thus only has a very minimal range surrounding Kinu, it acts very quickly on even alert people; only taking about a minute to take effect. However, if the person is already well-rested, the slumber will only last as long as a weak nap would for the person; making it only ideal for tired or heavy-sleeping souls.
Slot 2: Hagikaze
Rank: D
Description:
Kinu’s second aromatic spell, which conjures a very sweet scent that induces a trance in any victims. While technically ideal for making souls susceptible to suggestion, Kinu’s mute nature makes that a bit of a moot point. However, it does still leave them in the hands of their subconscious, and hardly in a state for combat. Similar to Yukikaze the scent is quickly dispersed, and is less effective on alert people. The flowery scent of this spell tends to cling even while its effects have passed, giving Kinu a consistently pleasant aroma.
Slot 3: Kuroshio
Rank: D
Description:
A third form of aromatic magecraft, this spell creates a gas akin to tear gas that is intended for incapacitating threats new to him. Compared to the other spells, this conjuration is much harder to disperse and is able to spread further than the others; although it loses effectiveness as it thins out in the air – after spreading about two square metres it becomes merely a nuisance. The gas irritates mucous membranes in victims’ sinuses in a similar manner to tear gas, but the symptoms resolve in about 10 minutes of leaving the cloud rather than 30 minutes.
