With a letter scale synonymous to Noble Phantasms, all variants of recorded Magecraft are ranked from E ~ EX. The guidelines for these rankings are as follows:
Some elaboration: because of the inclusion of “ranking”, you may assume that magecraft of a higher rank could be considered stronger and overall “better” than their lower-ranked variants, but that is not necessarily the rule. It all comes down to circumstance and how the spell performs its task. A C-rank spell could possibly end up being more useful than an A-rank spell, and an E-rank spell could be more effective in an established scenario than a D-rank spell.

With a letter scale synonymous to Noble Phantasms, all variants of recorded Magecraft are ranked from E ~ EX. The guidelines for these rankings are as follows:
- E - Capable of altering mental and metaphysical aspects of reality. As they are so simple, E-rank spells typically require no verses for an incantation.
- D - Capable of altering physical aspects of reality to a degree. Typically require one verse if casted
- C - Can produce things that would be difficult under normal circumstances, but cannot create something out of touch with reality or that contradicts the laws of physics. Typically require 1-4 verses.
- B - Can produce things that would be difficult under normal circumstances, and is capable of overlapping laws of reality to an extent. Typically require 5-7 verses.
- A - Can produce something considered nigh-impossible by physical or magical means. Is able to break as many magical and physical laws as it takes to accomplish this. Add a plus for how close to impossible it is (with a maximum of two pluses). Typically require 8-10 verses.
- EX - Unquantifiable. This magic is so bafflingly impossible, mysterious and breaks so many laws that there's no point in giving it a proper ranking.
