Personal Skills Skill 01 | Divinity: A
| The measure of whether one has Divine Spirit aptitude or not. At high levels one is treated as a mixed race of a Divine Spirit, and the level declines when the Heroic Spirit's own rank as a Monster or Demonic Beast raises. It can also decrease due to one's dislike for the gods. It also has an effect which reduces special defensive values called 'purge defense' in proportion to the Divinity's Rank. It can break through skills such as Protection of the Faith and Enlightenment of the Sacred Figure. Although he was banished from the heavens and was stripped of his status as God, Houyi ascended back into Godhood after his mortal life.
|
Skill 02 | Transcendental Archery: EX
| A skill that denotes one’s archery prowess being at a level that no mortal can ever hope to reach and achieve. It prevents any form of degradation of Archer’s archery skills, even when under the effect of mental hindrances, having one’s vision being obstructed in the course of combat, or using unorthodox archery weapons that is not an arrow. The display of archery by Archer is at a fixed and transcendent pinnacle, showing a divine performance of accuracy and precision regardless of distance, environmental effects, the weapons used, and his physical, mental and spiritual state, thereby guaranteeing the perfect execution of every perfect shot. A skill that is unable to be negated or modified, befitting the God of Archery; it is a mastery of archery that is vastly beyond the level known as mastery itself. |
Skill 03 | Clairvoyance: B
| Connotes superior visual perception and dynamic occipital capture, such as to supplement the long-range aiming of projectile weapons. With his current rank, Archer is able to pinpoint his target and keep track of fast-moving objects from a distance as far as 10 kilometers.
|
Skill 04 | Architecture: A | The skill to build a special terrain that is advantageous to oneself for the purposes of a defensive stronghold. Creation of a "Temple” becomes possible. Unlike the similar skill Territory Creation however, only the architectural structure of the building will be made at the level of this skill's rank, and there would be no benefits to a magus when residing within or making use of the created territory. It is up to a magus to transform the created territory into one advantageous for oneself. Additionally, the creation of the building requires worldly physical materials to construct, and it would take at most a day to construct something as large as a Temple. |
Skill 05 | Presence Detection: B
| The ability to detect other Servants and local mana sources. Archer is capable of detecting any nearby Servants and living beings such as humans and creatures that has mana within them in a range of four kilometers.
|
Class Skills Skill 01 | Independent Action: A
| The ability to remain independent even when rejecting the Magical Energy supply from the Master. It is also possible to remain for extended periods of time in this world without an established contract. At his rank for this skill, it is possible for Archer to take action even without a Master and stay in this world for a week. However, to use Noble Phantasms of great magical energy consumption, backup from the Master is necessary.
|
Skill 02 | Magic Resistance: B
| Grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the resistance effect that merely rejects magical energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether. With this skill’s current rank, it will cancel spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by high-thaumaturgy and greater rituals, it is difficult for Archer to be affected. |
Noble Phantasm
| Nine Suns: Three-Legged Crows’ Solar Arrows | Rank: A+
| Type: Anti-Unit
| Due to his feat of striking down nine of the ten suns in his life, Houyi's bow has been modified to include a ring with nine crystallized sun feathers attached to it. Each of these feathers is a feather belonging to each of the nine killed sunbirds, encapsulating each of the sunbirds' existence that contained the essence of the burning sun. By infusing a vast amount of prana into one of the feathers, it is dissolved into fiery prana, before being infused into the arrow currently nocked onto the bow, enveloping the arrow with bright searing flames reminiscent of the sun's very existence. The arrow nocked has to be a magic arrow, for ordinary arrows would be reduced to ashes from the flames. Invoking the name of the Noble Phantasm is required before firing the arrow to activate its effects upon fulfilling certain conditions.
The burning arrow's effect activates once it pierces through a living being. Once the living being is struck, the arrow instantly dissolves into the wound, the accompanying fire merging into that singular wound. After a second, the compacted fiery prana would burst out to the rest of the living being's organs, completely incinerating the target from the inside starting from the wound's location with the full heat of the sun. It does not even take a second for the afflicted body to be reduced to complete ashes. It is akin to the sun consuming the body that was struck by the arrow. The fiery arrow attack is at least on the rank of an A+ physical attack, but the damage dealt from the heat of the sun from within the target's body is fixed in that it will always deal damage on a level of an A+ Noble Phantasm attack. As the latter attack comes from the inside, it ignores all forms of defense.
These arrows contain characteristics of anything that goes against the sun. As such, these arrows can resist gravity to the point that it can only fly in a straight line. Not even external factors like wind and magic can redirect the course of the attack. Because they are resistant to all external forces, these arrows are launched at a speed comparable to light, as if it was shot in the vacuum of space where there is no resistance. Due to its nature as sun-killers, this Noble Phantasm ignores any protection that comes from the essence of the sun, and should the Servant embodies the concept of the sun, then the inner heat incineration of the Noble Phantasm's effect will be a sure-kill attack.
It is possible to make countermeasures to this attack once launched. For example, putting up a sort of defense that can block an A+ physical attack can block the arrow in its path. If one is struck by the arrow, they can quickly amputate the part (if possible) to prevent the effect from spreading to the entire body. And finally, despite their nature as sun-killers, these arrows ironically embody the concept of the sun; thus, they can be negated by conceptual effects that destroys the sun. |
| Jifeng Bu: Flight of Yi | Rank: C
| Type: Anti-Unit | Houyi has the innate power to travel on wind as well as manipulate air currents. This Noble Phantasm is the crystallization of these feats. The Noble Phantasm also gives Houyi the ability to magically create wind through magecraft for the scenarios where there is barely any wind for the archer to use. Passively, Houyi can get atop of the wind by 'stepping' or 'jumping' onto it. The moment there is wind beneath his feet, Houyi would then be able to travel on it. He can manipulate the air currents towards his destination and not move at all, letting himself glide through the air. Or, he can actively walk or run on the wind, giving him a rank-up to his agility statistic due to the wind backing up his movements. The support of the wind can also increase the strength of his arrow attacks on a rank above his regular arrow attacks. Lastly, Houyi is able to always land safely on a landing platform regardless of the height he is coming down from, as his body would magically start to float when near land. This effect only applies to the archer getting off of the wind.
The creation of the wind through this Noble Phantasm is done through invoking the phantasm's name. Wind would emanate from Houyi and fill the area 100 meters around the archer's current location. However, he can only fill one area at a time; he cannot use this effect twice on two different areas. This is because the Noble Phantasm creates a set amount of magical wind. In regards to the manipulation of air currents, Houyi can manipulate wind 50 meters from his location, whether he is actively moving or not. Finally, instead of activating the first effect, Houyi is able to converge all of the magically-created wind into an arrow he is prepared to fire by stating the name of the Noble Phantasm as a second active effect. After fully drawing the bow and letting the wind envelope the arrow in a cyclonic form, Houyi would then fire it, unleashing a devastating path of destruction. Due to the wind's raging characteristic, everything within the arrow's vicinity upon fired would be shredded by the razor-like winds while also giving it increased penetration to anything in its path. The damage is calculated by adding Houyi's arrow attack to a C-rank Noble Phantasm attack. However, enveloping the arrow in wind can only work if there is no magically created wind within the area as a result of the Noble Phantasm's first active effect, as the wind used for the arrow is also the wind that would have been used for enveloping the area. Thus, simultaneous applications of the Noble Phantasm's active effects cannot work. |

Known as the Divine Archer, Houyi wishes to bring about the salvation of mankind once more. Houyi and the Ten Suns
Back in far ancient times within the lands of China, Houyi was the Chinese God of Archery. One day, having resided in the heavens for as long as he can remember, he was tasked with quelling the mischief the ten sunbirds were causing from Di Jun, the God of the Eastern Heaven and the father of these sunbirds. The sunbirds, being the physical embodiment of the suns, started causing trouble by rising up all at the same time rather than one sunbird at a time, creating a vicious drought that is harming both the lands and the humans. The archer was supposed to settle this matter peacefully by frightening the sunbirds so that they may never cause such mischief again, but Houyi started to have doubts when he first arrived on earth and surveyed the damaged landscape and the suffering people, making him build up anger from the inside. Mankind needed a hero to save them from this predicament, and Houyi was willing to become that great hero mankind desperately needs.
Having arrived at where the sunbirds were, Houyi threatened them with multiple warning shots, even with powerful shots that could cleave the sky apart. However, the sunbirds were not dissuaded and even laughed at the archer as they knew that their father did not want them dead. His anger having finally exceeded the threshold, Houyi suddenly shot down one of the sunbirds. He realized the crime he have done, and knew that the gods in the heavens would not forgive him, but he was resolved to carry out the rest of his offence so that the lands and the human race would be able to live properly once again. Thus, he started to shoot down the rest of the fleeing sunbirds across the lands, until the Chinese Emperor, Yao, hurriedly came and told Houyi to stop, reminding him that the world still needed a sun. The Divine Archer managed to stop before the last of the ten suns was struck down.
Having left one sun alive in this world, Houyi was celebrated as a hero by the people, and the archer returned back to the heavens. However, his actions have made him enemies in the heavens. Di Jun himself was not happy that nine out of his ten sons were killed and that Houyi did not follow the task as instructed. Therefore, as a father, Di Jun had no choice but to banish Houyi from the heavens and strip him of his immortality, forcing him to live like a human on earth. The now mortal archer would live out the beginnings of his mortal life as a peasant, living within the farmlands of ancient China. Saving Ancient China
Despite being banished from the heavens and having turned into a mortal, Houyi still retained his godlike archery skills. The Chinese archer was debriefed by both Emperor Yao and the people of the problems that plagued China. Unable to ignore the people's needs, Houyi embarked on a set of epic adventures to become the great hero mankind still needed.
His first mission required him to subdue Fei Lian, the Count of the Winds and a fearsome wind spirit, who was causing trouble for the Middle Kingdom by creating storms that ruined crops and demolished houses. Houyi managed to track the demon back to his habitat located in Mount Tai through his ability to travel on wind. Fei Lian tried to hide in a sack, but upon entering the monster's cave, Houyi was easily able to detect his hidden presence and shot an arrow at the sack, bursting it open. Fei Lian tried to flee, but Houyi quickly shot another arrow through his knee. The wind demon would surrender and promised not to disturb the people anymore.
During his crusade, Houyi came upon a river that had its banks burst open, and knew that this was the doings of a violent water god. He shot an arrow into the river, its single shot halting the flood and forcing it to recede from sheer force. Once the river returned to calmer waters, the water god surfaced on his white horse, along with his attendants. Houyi wasted no time shooting an arrow through the god's eye, wounding him and forcing him to retreat while leaving his companions behind. As these attendants fled, Houyi took aim at the closest figure. He was about to fire, but noticed that the figure was a harmless girl, and quickly redirected his bow so that the arrow whistled through her hair harmlessly.
Houyi was stunned by the woman's unearthly beauty, and she introduced herself as Chang'e, the daughter of the water god. The archer would propose on the spot for her to be his wife, and Chang'e would accept, knowing Houyi to be a great hero of mankind and having the utmost respect for him. The two would settle down in a home before Houyi would return to his quest of saving China.
The Immortality Elixir
Houyi did not mind being banished from the heavens, but he lamented at the fact that he would one day die and be reduced to nothingness. He heard of the elixir of immortality that was in the possession of Xi Wang Mu, the Queen Mother of the West, and thus traveled to her palace that resided in the Kunlun Mountains. The goddess knew who Houyi was based from his heroic tales and took pity on the Divine Archer. She agreed to give him the immortality elixir in exchange of Houyi using his architectural skills to build her a summer palace, of which he did for many, many months. After the completion of the palace, Xi Wang Mu gave the archer the immortality elixir, the last of its kind, and Houyi planned for him and his wife Chang'e to drink it.
Having arrived home, Houyi was immediately met with urgent requests from Emperor Yao and left the immortality elixir behind in his house before hastily leaving to help the Chinese Emperor. Houyi would face a list of monsters that are causing havoc throughout the world. Among them was Chiseltooth, a fearsome giant, the Bashe, a monstrous water serpent, and the giant Peng bird, as well as a variety of monsters that included giant boars and dragons. But despite the challenges that came in his way, with his divine archery skills, Houyi managed to fend off all of these menaces. Emperor Yao would reward the archer the title of Marquis Pacifier of the Country for his service to the human realm.
Meanwhile, Chang'e stayed at home while her husband combated humanity's foes that lasted for months. One day, she would find the immortality elixir and curiously drank the entirety of it. At the very moment, Houyi would finally return from his tasks and find that Chang'e was ascending towards the moon, to his surprise. Despite her pleas for help, it was too late for Houyi to grab her and hold her down, for she was beyond his reach. They bid their sudden farewells tearfully, and Houyi was reduced from a great hero to a bitter man at the loss of his wife. From Hero to Tyrant
Due to his wife being forever away from him, Houyi would become a changed person. No longer was he a hero welcomed by mankind, but rather he became hated by them for being a violent and tyrannical figure. For the rest of his life, Houyi would teach humans the ways of archery, and among one of his students was Feng Meng, whose skills had reached a transcendal level. Boastful of his heightened skills, Feng Meng would challenge Houyi to a shooting contest.
However, despite his blossomed skills, Feng Meng was hopelessly outmatched and was easily defeated by Houyi, whose skills are in the realm of the gods. It confirmed that no human archer would ever be able to match the skills of a former God of Archery. In his jealousy, Feng Meng would plot the murder of the Divine Archer. During a hunt, Feng Meng would strike the back of Houyi's head with a wooden club and beat him to death along with other disgruntled people who were angry at the archer. Despite the murder being justified in that Houyi is no longer a hero but a tyrant, Feng Meng and the others were still brought to justice. The Afterlife
While the epic tale of Houyi came to an end on earth, the archer would find himself in the afterlife, having been ascended back into a state of godhood thanks to his service to the human realm and was made to live on the sun. He would build the Palace of the Sun for himself and reside in it. Additionally, Houyi would be able to meet with Chang'e on the 15th day of every lunar month, and on their first reunion, the Divine Archer would build the Moon Goddess the Palace of the Moon. Despite all of the things that have happened in his lifetime, Houyi is content with the fact that he would still be able to see Chang'e in the afterlife. Thus, Houyi would represent the sun and the yang, while Chang'e would represent the moon and the yin, occasionally reuniting to spend their precious time together.
