[PTab=Profile] Character Details 1 Height / Weight : 6'0/165 lbs Source : The Four Sons of Aymon Home Region : France Alignment : Chaotic Good Gender : Male The Flight from Charlemagne Renaud was born as one of four sons to the man Aymon de Dordone, some french git that's honestly not terribly important to the story. He also had a sister named Bradamante whom was actually very important but, not in this instance, so we'll ignore her too. Their childhood was mostly boring, but mostly what was important was his acquiring of the sword Froberge and the steed Bayard from his cousin, Maugris. Well, less acquiring in the case of Bayard, as he still had to go wrestle the damn horse to the ground to break an enchantment on it, but it was Maugris who had enchanted Bayard and pointed him in the direction so it still technically counts. Fast forwarding a bit, Renaud was a member of Charlemagne's court, and things were going pretty smoothly. Until he got drunk and killed one of the King's nephews in an idiotic fist fight. In fairness, the bloke had it coming, or so Renaud insists, but that still doesn't change the fact he straight up iced a dude over some drunken brawl. So he and his brothers hopped on his magic horse and Hussein Bolted outta town, with Charlemagne and his paladins hot on their tails. After a long, exhausting struggle including many epic chase scenes, long drawn out sieges of perilous castles, and many chivalrous tasks later, the other Paladins eventually convinced Charlemagne that it was once teency accident and that the whole grudge against Renaud thing had gotten a bit out of hand. So they made peace. My life for a horse! One condition of the peace between Charlemagne and Renaud, was that he offered up his magical horse Bayard to the King as a gift. While he hated to part with his beloved steed, he figured Charlemagne would take good care of such a magical and devoted horse. So Charlemagne decided to chuck it in a river and drown it. Aghast, Renaud prayed to God above that he would save his noble steeds life, vowing he would give his life rather than watch a trusted companion die due to his betrayl. And while it wasn't in the way he thought, his prayer was answered. Bayard was chucked into the river bound with stones, but burst free and ran off into the woods. Renaud would never see the magic horse again, but he would be alive, and that thought brought him comfort. The other condition for the king's forgiveness was that he had to go fight in the Crusades. So that was another fun few years. While some noteworthy things happened there, it isn't much anything that's relevant here, so we'll breeze over it. Fountain of Renaud had some other adventures in his time as a Paladin besides just being chased down by a vengeful king. In one of his more infamous instances, he drank from a fountain that made him fall madly in love with a pagan princess named Angelica. And she drank from a fountain that made her hate his guts, so needless to say, it was a complicated situation. Made more so by his cousin Roland, the foremost of Charlemagne's paladins, also being in love with Angelica, so they had to duel once or twice or twelve times. It gets confusing with all the angry screaming and poetic insults. Eventually he drank from another fountain that cured him of his unnatural love, and continued on a few more adventures before deciding to retire at a young age. He returned home, and decides to become a simple mason, working towards building a stature of Saint Peter. Some other workers however get somewhat upset with him due to his flamboyant personality and the fact he was kind of being a dick and murder him, chucking his body in a river. However, his body emerges from the river unscathed but still very dead, and returns to his brothers for a proper burial. Counter What Now? Remember when I said he prayed to God to save his horse? Well God didn't save anything. Desperate as he was, Renaud willingly entered a pact with some unknown force, which he assumed was God and probably still does, to save his mighty steed in exchange for whatever it wanted. What it wanted was to draft him into the army of mindless drones known as the Counter Guardians. So he's been kind of busy doing that ever since. Unlike some other worry warts, Renaud never has much problem with his duties as an agent of the Counter Force. As someone who put his faith in God and a higher power, he trusts whatever force commands him to be using him for the Greater Good, so looks on his actions as a mindless, killing Robot as basically just a more literal version of his actions during the Crusades. Bad things to good people for a good reason, he hopes. |
