A moderate and considerate person who cared about his followers, he was a hero who became a monster to protect his country and his companions. There are times, not frequently but still times, when that side of him comes through and he’s not simply a monster. But most of the time, the figure of Berserker is not that of the pragmatic hero-king of Wallachia but that of Count Dracula. A savage and ruthlessly intelligent man, Vlad… or perhaps simply Dracula is prone to outbursts of extreme aggression, even to the point of ripping servants apart for the crime of calling him by the name Dracula. Even in this form he resents Stoker for his bastardization of his identity and the “raping” of his soul. Yet, unlike his other half, he has no objection to using his vampire powers to his benefit - flitting around the battlefield, drinking the blood of his foes and mocking them openly, Dracula is a figure who stands above even other Heroic Spirits as a being to fear. Utilizing this fear, Vlad aims to attract an army of loyal retainers to his side, using anyone he sees as useful whether master or Servant. This is out of an attempt to make up for what he lacked in the past, and what he lost in the last holy grail war - Great captains to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with. Unfortunately, most people’s natural reviling of him as a “monster” causes him to quickly grow tired of their presence and attempt to scratch them out. At least, should be disgusted at the vampire part of himself - he actively accepts the hatred of those who despise the torturer of the turks. Their hatred he has earned, the other is baseless. Despite the seeming change in outlook, Vlad still maintains the same wish as his original - to have the smear of Count Dracula removed from his name. In his own words “If they are to hate me, let it be for the thousands of men I butchered! Let it be for the children I orphaned and for the blood I gifted the soil. But I will not let myself be condemned for crimes I never partook in!” When in the heat of battle, Dracula is a terrifying figure. Essentially immortal due to Legend of Dracula, he often doesn’t even bother to dodge attacks, simply letting the opponent realize the futility of this situation and delighting in their own misery from such an act. However, even with his incredible powers, it is possible to even take Dracula by surprise, usually because of his arrogance - though his hearing is impressive due to being part bat, people with high enough presence concealment can easily get a hit in, granting them a one-hit chance for a kill. Most people, unfortunately, simply don’t have the power to grant something he can’t simply heal from. This aggression also shows itself in more… private ways; It appears Vlad has picked up the sadomasochistic romantic traits of his fictional representation. Lovingly torturing his partners in a way that rivals even Celenike, his harem is constantly in danger even when he doesn’t mean to through his dominance and vindictive streak. The exception to this is his apparent fondness for petting people’s heads - The only people receiving such contact are those that he distinctly likes, although he will not mention this openly. It seems he has a dislike for being “sappy”. Despite being quite clearly mad, he can converse properly and even seems dangerously intelligent. However, he requires an exceptional master to rein him in, or at the very least one whose personality he enjoys. Elsewise, he will quickly try to suck their blood. Those that he does like will find their relationships being that of Dracula and Renfield - unconditional love on both sides, even though one may be a bit verbal (or physically) aggressive to the other. Underneath this arrogance, Vlad seems genuinely envious of the other heroes of CHALDEA and even the masters - WHilst it would not be true to say that he regrets the decisions that he made as the King of Wallachia, believing them still to be the only way to protect his people, he envies those who were able to find an honorable and peaceful path. Even after losing faith in god, he envies those like Arthur who were able to keep their beliefs untarnished until the final day. Because of this, though he may tease other servants, he envies any who managed to die young and happy. When facing off against someone who chose to sacrifice their own morals for power, he tends to wish to destroy them, especially so for Dead Apostles who take this choice away from others. Perhaps this is why he accepts the role of the vampiric menace whilst rejecting the name of Dracula. Dracula was a tyrant who stole the choice from others and abused his position, whilst he walked the path of a man who did whatever he could to ensure his people’s safety and gave them the chance to fight for their own freedom rather than wind up as slaves. Even as a vampire all his sins and acts are his own and thus are things he can live with - he takes his own path, rather than having it dictated to him by a dandy. The Impaler Prince - The Kazliki Bey Vlad was born in 1431 as the third prince of the royal family, his father being Vlad II and his mother being unknown. He was raised as the “son of the dragon”, his father being part of an organization devoted to protecting Christendom against the encroaching Ottoman Muslims. In his mother tongue, “son of the dragon” was literally “Dracula”, leading to his eventual nommer. Vlad and his brother Radu spent their early years growing up together in Sighisoara before being brought to Targoviste, the capital of Wallachia at that time. In the capital, the two were raised to be extremely intelligent - Vlad became a great warrior and a great scholar, learning the art of war, geography, mathematics, science and much else aside. He far excelled his brothers in not only combat but in scholarly pursuits, seeming the perfect boy prince. However, his father was ousted by rival factions in an attempt to work with Hungary. As a way to counter it, Vlad and his second eldest brother Mircea were granted as wards to the Ottoman Sultan, only to wind up being captured and held as prisoners. During his years as a prisoner, he was educated in logic, the Quran and Turkish language and culture. He managed to charm his captors into letting him go back to Wallachia to become their voivode (the ruler), believing that they could easily sweep into Europe granted enough power. However, Vlad quickly became a villain in the eyes of the public when he was blamed for the death of his father and brother. For the rest of his childhood, he was tossed around from one European kingdom to the other, quickly becoming extremely learned and knowing most languages spoken in the continent. However, in 1456, Vlad finally took out his brother Vladislav II and claimed the throne for himself, having walked a path of blood to get there and continuing to walk that path for the rest of his life. He became a key player on the world’s stage, tearing his foes apart and installing only those who he believed would benefit him. All of this to avoid the Ottomans from taking over his beloved country - At points, he even made excuses to murder Ottoman diplomats to make a show of force against his Ottoman enemies; one story tells of him assassinating a trade envoy simply because they “refused to raise their hats” to him, killing them by nailing their hats to their heads. However, again and again the Ottomans continued to push him, assuming that he would crack and they would have their way. Yet, to their great surprise, he never did. Rather, he seemed to harden in response to their brutality, killing peasant men and women to send a message. In one instance, he killed almost 24,000 men simply to make it overt that he was now at war with them officially - He was the monster, the “Kazliki Bey”, the man who would stop at nothing to protect his people, often killing tens of thousands of ottomans in single attacks before disappearing into the fog. Despite his modern day status as a monster and a villain, he was again and again celebrated by almost everyone in Europe for being their bulwark against Islam. Despite overtly being sadistic, it seemed he killed people first and foremost because he needed to protect his people - at least, those that weren’t openly against him. Throughout his life, he killed 20% of his country’s population to protect the other 80% and keep them together as a single front against those who sought to crush them. For this he was loved and feared in equal measure, the perfect ruler in the eyes of many. Failure and Deatht Vlad’s victories against the Ottoman forces were extremely short lived, as he was forced to leave detachments behind when he withdrew to Moldavia. His commander’s forces were overrun rather easily, and he found himself being forced to come against Radu who had betrayed the country in an attempt to get the throne even if that meant having to ally with the people that had betrayed and attacked his brothers when they were naught but children. As the war continued to burn between Radu and Vlad, representing Christianity and Islam, the two became more and more aggressive with each other. However, he was finally tracked down and captured in Poenari Castle, his famed lair that would later become the location that Stoker based Dracula’s castle off of. This defeat was not for any weakness on Vlad’s part but simply because he was attacked by the Boyars, the people he had been executing for years to protect the rest of his country. In autumn 1462, Vlad was captured on his way home to Wallachia when he had been promised aid from the Hungarians to retake his homeland. He was betrayed by his general Matthias Corvinus, leading to his resentment of all traitorous Heroic Spirits. The Hungarian king, attempting to avoid having to supply any further aid to what he considered to be a “lost battle”, imprisoned Vlad for 12 years, torturing him frequently to gain information that he never even had in the first place. It was the truest act of treason, causing him to lose all faith in the Christian god. Finally released, Vlad and Stephen V Bathory (Liz Bathory’s grandfather), began preparations for the reconquest of Wallachia. Vlad and Stephen managed to win back the throne but the losses they had couped in doing so wound up with Vlad being unable to hold it for every long. Soon Prince Basarab, Radu’s replacement, was knocking at his door again attempting to get his land back. With fewer than 4,000 men, he was forced to take the Turkish army heads on and was killed in the ensuing battle. Fighting men all around him, his soldiers loyal to a fault, Vlad continued to fight until he was killed. Yet, ironically, even in the end it was not an enemy who had killed him but one of his own bodyguards.. And it wasn’t even an act of betrayal. The man had simply not been trained in the art of firing a rifle properly and wound up shooting Vlad instead of one of his assailants. In the act of ultimate irony, a blow intended to save Vlad’s life had been the one to take it. Alternate Classes Berserker: The Berserker class, despite Vlad being accused of insanity by the history books, is not tied to his actual life but to his legend - the legend of Count Dracula, which Stoker based after him. It is said that he would kill any who summoned him in this class, but you cannot kill a Gacha. Caster: Another class based around his Vampirism rather than around Vlad himself, Vlad is capable of being ascended into the caster class as a focus on the more occult side of Dracula. The man who made the entirety of a country his territory. Lancer: Lancer, the usual class of Vlad III, is the first class of the four that Vlad is capable of truly being himself in rather than Dracula. A class that properly unlocks the strongest form of Kazliki Bey and Demonic Defender of the state, this class is the one about his defence of his country. Rider: Rider, the class of the Mounted Knight, is the last class that Vlad is likely to be summoned in. Granting him his war-steed, a large white horse, Vlad is exceptionally fast in this class but has few other abilities that the other classes don't grant him. |
