[PTab=Profile] Character Details 1 Height / Weight : Source : Matter of France/Orlando Furioso/Orlando Innamorato Home Region : France Alignment : Chaotic Good Gender : Female Personality [WIP] Known as the charming, fair, and illustrious knight of the white plume and shield, like those of the Peers, Bradamante reflects a chivalrous demeanor. In fact, given her role in Orlando Furioso and Orlando Innamorato, one can even describe her as a swashbuckler which proves uncommon for women to obtain such a title. Heralded as the greatest and strongest female knight in literature, she possesses immense pride in her skills and self while also possessing great faith and loyalty to God and King Charlemagne. Despite the praise given to her, he White Knight is a rather modest or humble figure who felt flattered and honored at the thought of someone like herself meeting a prophet such as Merlin. Even though so much strength inhibits her, the lovesick woman is rather amicable and trustworthy. One can say even a little too faithful or naïve, given her trust leading to her getting pushed off a cliff and herself ignoring Melissa’s advice by trusting her own eyes before getting fooled yet again. Though even as a fighter, coincidentally, she can be described as someone who makes “love, not war”, sparing the figures she fought and restraining herself from killing people for her own personal gain. For a woman known for her romantic adventures, it goes without much surprise that she’s a hopeless romantic. Always carrying a notebook with her, Bradamante often describes these romantic feelings of hers through writing and illustrations. She has the silly habit of often pairing those around her and wondering of their compatibility as partners. Certainly enough, when it comes to consoling those around her when it comes to love or relationships, she acts more so like a mother would with their child. Often enough, she romanticizes of various activities she considers romantic, and whenever romance is brought up her mood brightens up tremendously. Of course, with her summoned now in a far different era, her behavior changes even further. Bradamante buries herself in reading romantic literature and even viewing soap operas and cheesy Spanish novellas. Speaking of soap operas, the White Knight has gotten herself into the world of theatrical arts. As per her title, her charisma and gallant attitude often left her in leading roles, especially with her pulchritudinous physiognomy. Enjoying herself so much with this, she found amusement in flirting with girls simply to enjoy their cheery or flustered emotions. It has made her respect her title as the “white knight” even further. Although, her suave character is actually a ploy. How could she say such embarrassingly romantic things to all people? When hearing her romantic thoughts or what she considers romantic out loud, the knight often finds herself flustered and attempting to brush off the embarrassment by laughing it off bashfully. Though, the fact that she follows it up by throwing away the flowery wording and delivering the pure words and intentions from her heart often still leaves her rather popular with women. Despite harboring such an endearing and silly personality, Bradamante is still a trained knight through and through. Whenever battle has been engaged, the courageous and composed aspects of herself comes to play. If anything, her sensitivity is one of the few traits that remain as it coincides with her inability to kill someone lest it is necessary. The only instance that she broke away from this usual character is when she was forced to fight to keep her own hand in marriage for Ruggiero rather than Constantine’s son, Leo. It was said that her veins became fiery as she became impatient and virulent in wishing to get the tournament over with to meet her beloved and ensure the death of any man attempting to take her away from him. First Saving of Ruggiero Known more for her romance with Ruggiero than her prowess as a knight, Bradamante first encountered the man when she was engaged in an altercation with another knight by the name of Rodomont. Insisting for her to come to the aid to Charlemagne while he handled her affair due to Rodomont’s pugnacious behavior, she initially accepted the offer before returning out of guilt of dumping her problems to a stranger, only to find him soundly defeating her previous foe. Impressed by his valor, the two engaged in introductions as she astonished him by exposing herself as a female knight. Alas, with her head no longer concealed by her helmet, Bradamante received a head wound from an ambush by those intercepting the retreating Christian force, causing the two to engage in a fight for vengeance. During their fight, the two of them got separated from one another. It was then that Atlantes, the enchanter, took this opportunity to capture Ruggiero to avoid the prophecy of the Islamic knight getting converted to Christianity through the influence of Bradamante. As for the woman, she was briefly mentioned to have run into Sacripant and languidly defeating him while on her way to reunite with Ruggiero. Additionally, she came across Pinabel of Mayence who informed her of her future lover’s predicament, only for him, out of hatred for the feud his house and hers, Clermont, held, betrayed her at a cliff. Making up the lie that he had seen a beautiful and young maiden getting kidnapped by a ruffian at a cave down below, the gallant and trusting female knight attempted to descend by a branch. Taking this opportunity to enact vengeance against the house of Clermont, he released the branch from his hands when requested to hold onto it, sending the White Knight plummeting and fortunately having her fall softened by the very same branch. Venturing into the cavern, she encountered a door and entered into it, finding herself in the grave of Merlin where she, inspired by a sense of religious awe, prayed thanks to the Preserver of her life. It is then that the priestess Melissa approached her and invited her to meet with Merlin. Here is when she learned of her prophecy from him of grand destinies, only accomplishable were she to wed Ruggiero. With the assistance of his priestess, Melissa, Bradamante managed to procure a ring from a Moorish servant by the name of Brunello, who held a stolen ring from a queen in India that granted immunity to enchantments and magecraft. This very same ring is what brought her victory over the enchanter, Atlantes, and evidently save those he enslaved in his home, including Ruggiero. Unfortunately, when Ruggiero brought himself onto the hippogriff, that beast who was still loyal to Atlantes abducted him away from the clutches of the maiden once again. Second Attempt at Saving Ruggiero Taking on a journey by the whims of the hippogriff, Ruggiero evidently defeated the sea monster by the name of orc to save a maiden of the name Angelica. After he performed this valiant task, on his continuing adventure, he came across a knight in midst a fight with two giants. Not wishing to interrupt the battle, he merely watched until recognizing that the knight in peril was the same Bradamante he had been yearning for. Little did he know that this was merely another ploy by the enchanter, Atlantes. The giants abducted this phantom of Bradamante away, whom Ruggiero chased after and brought himself in the custody of his freedom yet again. The true Bradamante, having heard this news from the priestess Melissa while stationed in Marseilles, took up arms to go attempt to save him once more. Unfortunately, instead of heeding Melissa’s commands of ignoring the phantom of Ruggiero that she first sees and slaying it, Bradamante foolishly allows her longing for him to take over as she reasons that she can trust her eyes more than the priestess. Of course, that merely resulted in her getting caught in Atlante’s plot as well. Fortunately, Astolfo would come by and free those two and the other captives later on. Tournament of Love Along with the word of Bradamante’s skill, the notion of her captivating beauty also circulated about, enough to capture the ears of the Grecian Emperor Constantine. Pleased with her resplendence and worth, he desired to get Charlemagne to have his niece (Bradamante) marry the emperor’s son, Prince Leo. Although Bradamante’s brother, Renaud (Rinaldo), had already promised her to Ruggiero and informed his parents of such, Duke Aymon and Lady Beatrice found the opportunity of marrying a Grecian prince too grand to pass up. So, the two insisted that she come and marry Leo. Naturally, Ruggiero was furious to hear of the news of a stranger stealing his beloved, and so decided to get rid of the man by trying to meet him on the battlefield, hiding his crest and emblazonment. Joining with the Bulgarians who were facing Prince Leo’s army, he successfully caused them to retreat beyond the river, yet attempted to pursue the Prince. Unfortunately, he had been too late, and so decided to rest in a cottage. Alas, one of the Prince’s knights had the same idea and recognized Ruggiero, taking him captive in his sleep. This evidently left him jailed, only for the Prince, who was greatly impressed by the man’s valor, to come free him personally. As a result, Ruggiero desired to honorably return the favor, which came to unfortunately be fighting for the Prince against Bradamante. For the meanwhile, the White Knight had requested Charlemagne for assistance, in which he bestowed on by declaring that only one who vanquished her in battle could gain her hand in marriage. Naturally, Ruggiero, disguised as Prince Leo, would come and face her, standing his ground from sunrise until sunset, which in turn won the Prince Bradamante. Of course, her true lover grieved over this, and when Leo learned of the reason and his circumstances, gave Bradamante to Ruggiero still. Finally for the lovers fortune was upon them, as the Bulgarian army later arrived to inform Ruggiero that he ought to come home to Adrianople to receive the crown and scepter. Lady Beatrice, who initially disapproved of the man for his lack of land, fame, and faith in Christianity, now heartily approve of the marriage between Bradamante and he. At last, the two had become married to each other. |
