NAME: Athanasios Sisyphus Zacharias
[PTabbedContent][PTab=APPEARANCE]
Athanasios is a tall, thin man, of somewhat below average build and somewhat clearly spends more time in boardrooms and discussion tables than being out and about. As if in contrast to this is his dark, tanned Mediterranean skin, something gained from his life in Greece as well as a result of his magecraft, which engages in low-intensity cycles on a near-constant basis, causing a bit of wear. This has consequences on his complexion, making him appear somewhat older than he actually is. His blond hair, unusual for his location, is striking, especially in combination with his piercing, cool, blue eyes. However, he tends to keep his eyes lidded, to try and promote a more friendly, amiable environment.
Athanasios almost universally prefers wearing either fully pressed business suits or business casual attire. He almost never feels pressed for action, and if so, he’s perfectly comfortable in such clothing, though he might shift to something slightly baggier if he’s going to be fighting people that are particularly agile or quick. He has custom-tailored dress shoes that allow for the tightness and comfort more low-brow footwear would provide, since he realizes he’ll be called on as a Provisional Master, he’s made arrangements to have his clothes modified to be acceptable for activity and combat.
Perhaps the most odd thing about his attire is, in contrast to the rest of his clothes, he wears a rather peculiar chain belt, something at odds with the rest of his clothing, something that’d be more in line with what a biker punk or Yakuza punk might wear. Still, his demeanor is practiced enough and he’s comfortable enough in it that it tends not to get brought up in professional circles, if only out of politeness.

[PTab=PERSONALITY]
Athanasios presents the aura of an affable manager to most people within Chaldea. His business primarily lies elsewhere, in the diplomatic arena, where he is a zealous advocate and a person willing to compromise when necessary. He is nearly always impeccably polite, though when not on the clock, his patience can be tried. To many, he comes off as so impeccably present it’s sickening, with a slight hint of malice behind it. While the untrained might simply assume he’s suspicious, others might wonder if it’s the truth, or just something he wants to be seen.
However, for the most part, that’s just a veneer. While not quite as cruel and conniving as he had been in the War, that has been replaced with a general feeling of impatience. A growing irritableness when he’s allowed to be himself is something that’s started to trouble him, he believes it to be the result of continuously having to deal with the incessant whispering his magic forces him to deal with. He doesn’t suffer indignation or insubordination lightly, as he’d been trained from a very young age to be a dominator, to be the one in control, and to command respect as such. He has a slight fear that the irritableness will only grow worse, and needs to get it under control or he’ll lose his grip on reality.
He enjoys playing games with people, and has a rather massively inflated ego. His loss in the Grail War did a bit of deflating in that regard, but he views it more as “I had very good opponents” than “I was a poor player.” He’s unironically delighted to see some recognizable faces from that event. While he has something of a superiority complex, he’s always on the lookout for more interesting people. Having an intelligent conversation is something he greatly enjoys, and is all too rare as being able to read the thoughts in someone’s head makes it difficult to carry on.

[PTab=HISTORY]
Born into the Zacharias family, Athanasios was bred to be the family heir from a young age, with the family passing along it's secrets of mind magic to him. He played along, not passing up a chance to gain such power, though he never put much stock into their talk of joining the Clock Tower, believing that their power was outdated...inefficient when compared to the modern world. So, once he underwent the unique ritual of mind sharing that the Zacharias family uses instead of the standard Magical Crest, he left the home. Despite the fact that she would have known of his plans during the meld, his mother, Adelphe Hippolyta Zacharias, the leader of the family, allowed him to go with the transference intact. Whether from respect or a plan of her own, he could never tell.
With his newfound magical power and the skills of communication to support it he had learned over the course of the years, he soon became a name within the Greek government, a rising star. His powers proved invaluable as he made his connections, ingratiating himself with people who would help him rise still further. He had dinner in their houses, played golf and tennis when them when their schedules met, and made sure that he was being a perfect guest. But the little spark, his secret, unfailing luck as he continued to rise, was the psionic magic he inherited, that made them just ever so inclined to trust and befriend him. Since they were regular humans and not magi, they were never aware of the pressure he put on their mind, and simply assumed he was merely an unusually charismatic individual.
However, as he was working his way up the political ladder and preparing to run in the next election for a position in Parliament, he received a call. It was none other than his mother...someone he had not intended to hear from again. Freezing up, Athanasios tried to hang up the phone and make some changes in location, but she spoke quickly, informing him of the Grail War's existence, and the power and prestige to be won in it. She was too old, she said, and she wanted the Zacharias family to have a representative.
Engaging in the war, things didn’t go well for him. He didn’t die, and the eventual Grail ended up being a farce, so it was a waste of time from the start. Returning to a life of politics after finishing up his stint as the Japanese Ambassador, he pursued a career as delegate to the United Nations while preparing for a run on the Prime Minister’s seat. However, his life was interrupted once again, this time by a job offer.
The thought that the world was ending was so far-fetched he could hardly believe it, but when presented with the evidence, he could hardly deny it. The amount of obvious time and care, along with the absolute lack of subtlety in the man’s mind, made him confident that, at the very least, that’s what they believed, and he had no reason to discount it. All the money, connections, and power in the world wouldn’t help him if things would just end up blowing up in a year, so he put his ambitions on hold, and took the job.
As Chaldea expanded, they increasingly needed high-end scientific minds from the best of the countries they had to offer. In doing so, they had to have reasonable reasons why they were being hired that they could present, as a super-secret Russian establishment in the tundra with such a huge gathering was rather suspicious. As someone with connections in the non-magi world, he was tasked with communications with the heads of regulatory commissions in order to assuage them that nothing untoward was occurring.
At the very least, that’s what the papers said. In truth, he enjoyed working as a Provisional Master far more. It reminded him of the good old days, and helped him avoid the increasing boredom he was having with politics. It was all too easy, after all.

Sorcery Trait: Mindwalking
Magi of the Zacharias family are adept at wandering in other’s minds, and do so almost as easily as breathing. Every single person is constantly whispering their thoughts to one with this Sorcery Trait, and while it takes a slight amount of concentration, the primary goal of a competent mindwalker is to find what’s actually useful in a sea of petty secrets and feelings.
The presence and reading is of two varieties. The kind that is constantly heard and can be effortlessly read takes the form of conscious thought and up-front emotion. Generally, things that are “thought loudly” taking up mental space in the thinker’s thoughts, are visible to him. However, a tighter focus can be made to try and dig around for more deeply hidden feelings and memories. The former is non-penetrative, it’s generally undetectable, except for the most advanced magi of previous time periods. The latter is highly penetrative, and even somewhat-aware humans would be able to detect what’s happening.

Anti-Magus Mystic Code
Anti-Magus Mystic Code
Spell Rank: D
A Zacharias family heirloom, in his possession since his failed attempt to claim victory in a Holy Grail War. An alchemic creation, a spiked chain made of magically solidified quicksilver. As a weapon, it’s touch is poisonous, although it’s shape and form make it difficult to use effectively. However, it’s poison extends beyond that of mercury in the blood.
On contact, the very Magic Circuits within an opponent become sluggish and eventually freeze. With a touch, even the most hardened and trained magi becomes even more vulnerable to mental magecraft than an average human. Additionally, it correspondingly becomes difficult for them to use magecraft of their own.
Mind Spike: Pain Center
Minute electrical manipulation within the neural passageways in order to simulate a huge, gaping wound and all the pain that would entail. Causes an intense reaction that leaves most opponents that aren’t highly trained in ignoring pain gasping and shuddering at the huge assault their own brain is causing them.

Mind Spike: Despair
Spell Rank: D
Minute electrical manipulation within the neural passageways in order to simulate a sense of hopelessness and defeat. Has a chance of causing opponents to run away, and even if they continue fighting, it will be as if they think they have little chance of winning. Outside of combat, causes people to react to things as if they were depressed.
