[PTab=Profile] Character Details Height / Weight: 164cm/56kg Source: The Matter of France Home Region: France Alignment: Neutral Good Gender: Le secret~ Appearance In his legends, Astolfo is described as being the most handsome and beautiful of the Twelve Peers of Charlemagne; and as a Servant he indeed lives up to these claims – albeit in an unexpected way. With gorgeous looks that rival those of any lovely girl, Astolfo is utterly androgynous-looking with a pink bobcut and a long braided ponytail extending from it; a soft-featured face with perfectly smooth skin and a slender build all around. With lavender eyes to match his strawberry ice-cream pink hair, Rider looks to all the world like an especially effeminate young girl despite his gender. His clothing certainly doesn’t help things, as although it is certainly regal as befitting of his position it certainly matches his androgynous looks. A corset of chainmail ending in a short skirt covers his upper body, with a small chest plate helping protect his vitals; while similar plating is used around his waist to hold his sheathe and horn. A pair of black stockings extend from beneath his skirt; and a trio of black ribbons flank his hairstyle and ponytail; supposedly symbols of his friendship with Roland. A pair of heftier white boots and gauntlets are matched with a white, fur-hooded cloak to finish up his knightly but feminine outfit. When it comes to more casual engagements Astolfo still insists on using a physical form despite the general rules of Servants; and takes notable passion in fashion and such matters of vanity; doing his utmost to look his very best. However, in line with his feminine and somewhat childish looks and mannerisms, his choices are generally rather more cutesy and colourful in nature. However, as one would expect; his ribbons always remain regardless of his garb. Personality As per the original legends, Astolfo has an unfalteringly optimistic attitude to life, and can rarely ever be found sulking or otherwise down; although he is not eternally happy – he will certainly protest against any ill will heading is way, or get upset about anything going too wrong. However, he will never give up based on bad chances or fear or any other fleeting things; being every bit the knight and hero he was in legend. Resourceful and blessed with impressive luck in his affairs; Astolfo is a seemingly forever joyous soul who adores life in-of itself; particularly when it comes to any kind of free-faring adventuring. However, perhaps in return for his happiness Astolfo has a tendency to be clueless or stupid at times; as his endless curiosity and boundless optimism get the better of his common sense… or perhaps outright lack there-of; particularly when it comes to social pleasantries and conversation. He loves the physical joys of life and indulging in the pleasures of the world; and can often be caught up in doing what he pleases rather than what is wise or helpful; although he tends to have a more innocent outlook on such things – though he was once known for being a ladies’ man in his myths, as the most charming member of the paladins. He believes that every problem he meets should be solved with his heart, and looks to it for almost every decision – though it is hard to say it has lead him wrong thus far. As per his position among the peers of Charlemagne, Astolfo is a truly kind and heroic soul at heart; particularly when it comes to the matters of his friendship. While known for a number of grandiose deeds, his main claim to fame is saving his friend and greater hero Roland’s sanity from the moon; sealing an eternal friendship represented by his beloved ribbons with the legend. He treasures anyone he meets whom he gets along with, and adores spending time with friends - so long as they don’t hold him back from his adventuring whims too much. And, even then, he would be quick to forgive anyway. Unsurprisingly given his appearance, the French hero has little care for gender nor similar boundaries when it comes to himself or others; simply priding a person’s goodwill and honest attempts at doing what’s right over anything else – although he will probably sulk and whine a little bit when his own childish efforts are proven wrong; of course; but is willing to listen to reason on occasion all the same. Past Life As per the legends of the Charlemagne themselves, most of Astolfo’s past is unknown up until his appearance in the tales; beyond his princely status as the son of the King of England of the time; and his relation to Roland and Rinaldo; as he is their cousin. Enjoying his adventuring like any other knight of such a famous background, Astolfo’s ditzy disposition caught up to him early in his travels as he was seduced by the sorceress Alcina and subsequently sealed into a myrtle bush by the temptress once she grew bored of the soul. Happened upon by the knight Ruggiero, he tries to explain the curse while still trapped in his floral fate to the similar hero – but to no avail. However, as the events of the story continue, Ruggiero is aided by the sorceress’s kinder sister, Morgana; and by working together with his lover, Bradamanta; they destroy Alcina’s power source; returning Astolfo to his original form. From there on, Astolfo’s adventures begun in full; ranging an impressive number of tales of varied heroics; even if they were in the shadow of his friend Roland. Through these adventures he earned many magical items which now are his Noble Phantasms. However, his most famous part is as the saviour of Roland’s sanity in the tale of Orlando Furioso, as a love-struck Roland ends up heartbroken and goes mad with despair; rampaging through Europe and Africe – however, Astolfo thus journeys forth to Ethiopia in the hopes of finding a cure to his treasured ally’s madness. In the end, he travels to the moon itself upon the flaming chariot of the prophet Elijah; and finds the hero’s wits alongside all the earth’s lost items are found. Returning to earth, he reunites Roland with his lost sanity and saves the hero from his despair; allowing him to go onto fight the main war against the Saracen King of Africa, Agramante who are besieging Paris. Alongside the other paladins, Astolfo was killed in the Battle of Ronceaveux as told in the Song of Roland; before their iconic leader passed away. Although the paladins are described under different names, they still have the same count; so it can be assumed they are the same legendary Twelve Peers of Charlemagne. The French rear-guard supported by the paladins was utterly outnumbered yet they stood their ground heroically until all but Roland are killed; unable to defend against the ambush from the Muslim army they stood their ground against until King Charlemagne's main army arrived. Astolfo is said to have died from being skewered by several spears and succumbed to his wounds alongside his fellow paladins towards the end of the battle.
