[PTab=Profile] Character Details 1 Height / Weight: 5'8'' / 69 kg Source: Hermetical Writings Home Region: Mediterrean Alignment: True Neutral Gender: Male Ostanes was born in the 6th BC century and perished nearing the beginning of the 2nd century BC. Character Details 2 - The Archmagus Though his name has been recorded as a title between a line of Magi, Ostanes is in fact one Magus who traced his ancestry to Zoroaster himself. An Archmagus and High Priest of the Zoroastrian faith but at heart an academical man. Seen on the West as the "first" Magus and the man who introduced the way of the Magi to the Greek world and through it the rest of Europe. The man who inspired the frenzy for reaching the Root. While most of his works were lost throughout the ages following his death. The influence of Ostanes was clearly felt, he left a not so obvious mark on mankind and on some of humanities greatest minds. Hardly a stepping stone but more like a gentle breeze that guided humanity to its current present. Character Details 3 - Quest for Knowledge Ostanes first great achievement was amassing the knowledge of 7 civilizations. Through a spiritual experience and a magical ritual, Ostanes reached a realm with 7 gates guarded by a fearsome monster that held the keys for the stone gates. Rather than challenging it for the key, Ostanes negotiated with it and behind each door he found the core of a great civilization. He carved the knowledge and culture, magical theories and before it was considered scientifical the knowledge of the common man. He wrote down their history and achievements in 7 tablets, one from the ancient Babilonians, Egiptians, Indians, Chinese, Norse, Greek and Mayan. This achievement allowed him to retrieve the Wisdom of Hermes, finding a viable path to Akasha. When he retired from this pursuit, Ostanes earned his frenzy to let others see what he had witness, starting his path as a teacher and the Magus who would propagate the path of the Magi. Character Details 4 - The Court Sage Ostanes eventually ended up as a court mage, several hundreds year later he served as an adviser to King Xerxes I of Persia and accompanied him on his failed invasion of Greece. He remained in Greece after his liege was defeated and there became a mentor for such minds such as Pythagoras, Empedocles, Democritus, and Plato in various subjects, he would often also debate with Aristoteles as well as becoming the guide for aspiring Magus. Ostanes eventually served King Darius and when Alexander the Great conquered Persia became one of his followers, chasing after the King trying to preserve knowledge that would otherwise be lost as well as wishing to follow the dream Iskandar himself had. He died while giving a lesson. But as one who did not want to leave things unfinished, came back briefly as a ghost to conclude his final lesson. It is said that his last words were "I'm going to the Root now!" His record within the Throne of Heroes is unaware if he was successful as he had already died when he started his journey to reach the Root. Naturally as Servant of Chaldea he works his earnest to preserve Humanity or rather look out for his pupils. Character Details 5 - Magecraft & Knowledge Ostanes specifically is a practitioner of the following thaumaturgical schools; Alchemy, Necromancy, Divinination, Rune Magic, Elemental Magecraft, Baptism magecraft, Familiar Creation and Druidic and Spiritual Invocation. He is also an authority to astrology, medicine, literature, physics, mathematics, architecture, zoology, chemistry and history. |
